Should cams be compulsory?

There have been many discussions on here about people having photos.
I personally believe a cam is a good option, to cam face to face and talk I believe a far better way to get to know a person as I believe you can tell a lot about a face.
It is something you can do in a private room and still keep your identity away from public view if you felt the need.
I have felt before that it is a shame that isn’t compulsory when joining the site, so many say I don’t have a cam but have pictures on profile, but as I said in another thread I have been stung once when meeting a guy for a drink only to find he had not updated his pictures for a couple of years.
So my motto became no cam sorry no meet.
I just wondered what others thought.
Would it be that much harder for admin to check cams?
Since I'm only into dogging, having a picture on file would be a really bad move.
I also don't do meets, so there would be no point.
Having compulsory pictures or cams would really lead to a general lowering of the membership count (probably)
I'm not sure the site needs to make anything compulsory other than the fact that you're over 18 and you abide by the AUP.
I don't really see the need to make people cam. You have made the choice to make cams compulsory for you. That's your choice. I don't feel the need to go on cam all the time. Apart from the fact that I wear my jammies a lot, I'm not really all that fussed on people seeing me slobbing round the flat like a tramp! lol
I do cam sometimes, mostly when I've done my hair, other times it lives down the back of the telly. I certainly don't do it on request but I generally don't have to prove I am who I say I am.
Your motto is making it compulsory for you. I think everyone should have that choice.
I don't feel they should be compulsory for everybody. After all there are a lot of people in chat rooms who say they are not there to meet anyone. I do feel, however, that people should be urged to request a cam session with folks they do think about meeting. If you join to actively swing, you should be encouraged to own a cam, even if you only use it to confirm your identity to potential meets. Anyone who wishes to keep their identity secret except to thosa they are meeting can use a private room for 'verification' (aagh did I mention the 'v' word! rolleyes )
Oooo Minxy!!!!
I dont do cam any more!
Know what you saying though.
Mike says , why dont you chat to so and so via MSN and cam, I always say no, as I would want to do my hair, put a bit of lippy on, get out of my jeans!!
So vanity would stop me from ticking the compulsary box!! lol
Good question this...
I suppose there are those that anything compulsory like this is a form of the "V" word... :-O
Personally, I would not cam just to prove who we are in general or to the SH management. I would however cam in private with folk who I enjoy the company of, or perhaps we are planning to meet (certainly this is very true).
I didnt mean compulsory to go on cam, but if you spoke to someone wouldn't it be nicer, that they had a cam, of instead of saying sorry I dont have one.

It is nicer, and more fun, as you can see their reaction to your type, and they to yours!
I am unsure of my answer on this one to be totally honest.
I do prefere to see somebody on cam before i decide to meet them, but this isnt a must. I am happy to go on cam and used to go on cam regularly, sometimes daily. I do understand that people prefere to see somebody on cam so would have no problem going on cam to show that it is the female chatting or to show that we are both here, or to prove that we are who we say we are. I wouldnt however go on cam just because someone asks, for no other reason then just to have a gander. I like to go on cam because i want to, though as i said before, if its for a meet then i have no problem with that either.
Hope that makes some sort of sense lol
whoops think my wording was not right..call it minxies mistake can I change it? could I put would it be nicer if people you wanted to chat to someone that they had a cam?
I am not meaning the V word my mistake redface lol

lol
So what's the point then?
I have a cam but I rarely switch it on. Does that make me any more or less genuine? wink
If that were my way of doing things, I think it would even more annoying if someone said "yeah, I have a cam but I'm not switching it on".

If they dont generally go on cam what need is there for them to have one? To make it compulsary they would then need to go out and buy a cam which they may or may not ever use which seems rather stupid to me
It would alienate a lot of members who regardless of why they are here have still paid the membership fee just like you and me and deserve to be here without "cam verification"

My point was if you got talking to someone that you felt a connection with and then they asked if you fancied a chat on cam, would it be nicer if both parties had a cam, or not?

Only if both parties actually wanted to cam, If one party doesn't have a cam then your question has answered itself

for you it would be nicer, but not for others - If someone I felt a connection with then refused to meet without seeing me on cam they'd be waiting a long time. I dont cam, never have and dont feel I ever will. I also dont feel the need to view others, there are ways to tell is someone is genuine without viewing on cam.
So ladyisaminx if you felt this connection but someone didnt want to cam you wouldnt meet them ? so much for the connection then .... maybe they are just very private or lacking in the confidence to use a cam etc

Would you met just on chatting without seeing who you are chatting to?

That's not the same as it being compulsory though.
If I were chatting to someone and they wanted to cam and I wanted to, then I don't need the site to do that, I have msn.

yes true, I suppose the qusetion should more of been would you meet someone if you had not seen them on cam and just relied on pictures as to who they were.

no, and if they respected my decision to not cam then great and of not then tough.
if both want to great, good for them but it isnt necessary to get to know someone or to feel that connection

Yes is the answer to that.
People have met me based on my pics and my banter in chat on the forums. Why shouldn't I?
I use my instincts. Nine times out of ten they are correct.

Ladyisaminx ..... do you not feel your being unfair to people you see on cam ? they show themselves to you but you dont back - for all they know your pics couldnt be years out of date like the person you met before ..... think if your insist on seeing someone on cam before a meet then is only fair you do the same
