Bring back the pubs, where drinking, smoking and hopefully full of drunken silly people. rotflmao :rotflmao:
The pubs belong to the drinkers, why did it all change to ............. Food people who dont understand the meaning of Men in vaults being drunk and being drinkers (not food freaks). Then i noticed books in pubs ( library silence too). WTF has happened.
There is and was plenty of restaurants, cafe and food outlets. So why have they contaminated a real drinkers pub, with people eating scampi rolleyes then silence for a reading session. Go library dunno
Bring back the drunken sunday afternoons  Go plzzzzzzzzzzzzzz mad
What i really dont understand is ....................... pub grub is absolutely horrible, same stuff in all the food pubs. Crap food.

Food it seems does have a place in pubs these days....
I have no problem with this but.......
Do I have to sit there listening to someone slurp their soup of the day or watch someone dribble their gravy down their best sunday shirt while I'm trying to enjoy my fag ??
Give them a seperate room so pub bars can get back to what they were invented for...
Drinking,smoking and swearing..

Totally agree mate.
I lived on the canals for 7 years in th 1990s and saw most of my favourite "drinking" pubs slowly transform themselves into beer gardened, fake oak beamed, plastic menu`d, pub grub, all day breakfast, sunday roast for bloody nine, kids eat free, bollocky load a shite mad :x Its a sorry state of affairs if you ask me. confused
You cant find a decent drinkers pub these days, you know the ones, they sell beer n fags n if your hungry, you can dine on delicious roasted peanuts, served on a bed of plastic wrapper, enveloped in a sprinkle of salt wink

Oh so well put.
I am not even going to go there with the smoking thing, but the food thing .......
When I first moved to the New Forest 20 years ago I had loads of friendly drinking establishments. Over the years the majority most have been taken over by the larger breweries and transformed into eating establishments first, pub second. It is obvioulsy done for the profit, after all there is a lot of money to be made down here during the tourist season.
None of these transformed pubs have any pub atmosphere so the locals rarely use them, unless they have visitors and go out for a meal.
I like to walk into a pub, instantly know who the landlord/landlady is and be served a well kept pint. In so many of these managed houses the landlord doesn't stand out, he is just a bystander.
We have one pub left which is still family owned. A superb pub with a great landlady and lock ins. The only trouble is it is about 6 miles away - bloody long way to walk when your pissed and you have spent your last £5 on more beer rather than save it for a cab home ......
