Single Guys

I've noticed quite a lot, while browsing all the forums, what a hard time the single guys get on here :shock: So I just want to do a little post to let them know that not everyone thinks like some people.
Yes, there are a fair few assholes, but I think it's all pretty relative - the single guys outnumber both the fems and the couples, who are by no means immune to carrying the jerk personality bubble themselves :shock:
I don't want to turn this into how unfairly they get treated sometimes. I started this thread just to let the single guy know that they too are appreciated, and treated with the same respect they offer (by most). Everyone else gets happy threads about em, so here's one for you guys biggrin

I've been on here a year or so now - and in that time, of all the munches and get togethers I have been to, I have only met two guys who were idiots. That puts it into perspective for me.
I don't start many threads, but you guys don't get enough appreciation around here IMO. So a little message from me, to say that I wouldn't still be on here without you :D In the year or so I've been on here I've made some great friends, and there's many more on here that often have me in stitches, but I don't seem to get to respond to before the moment is lost.

I have had a hug distrust in men for a long time and I'm terrible with men I don't know. And yet there are at least three single men on here with whom I've stuck up great friendships :) One of them I would consider a very great friend despite only meeting him a handful of times .... very supportive and wonderfully kind.
The other two regularly pm or msn me and we chat a great deal.
There are some idiots out there but I really do feel that they are in the minority and those who are sincere, courteous and patient tend to get a raw deal because of the minority.

Being one of the quieter members and with kids most weekends, I've only managed one munch and one other outing so far and so don't know as many people on here as I should by now. I have to agree though - virtually everyone I've come into contact with has been helpful but the one or two that were less than pleasant weren't single men...
So thanks again, and I got all giddy until I saw that you're down south... sad

It is no secret that I have defended the single guys on many a thread, even the shall we say nieve ones. Single guys in general are GREAT!
Why? Because they contribute to around 75% of my sexlife... so without them I would be well and truely F*CKED (or more to the point NOT)

Know what you mean there - I've suffered from altitude sickness both times I've been up there for the NW munch :shock: It's ok when I first go up there, but when I've woken up the morning after the munch, I've felt dreadful, both times! :undecided:

Hmmm, you're obviously not acclimatised - I prescribe regular visits to help get over this !! :shock: Copious amounts of alcohol are of course not a factor in this as I'm sure you're aware biggrin

Although I must admit to a reverse sort of feeling whenever I venture too close to London... Too many people in not enough space sad

so that's why? altitude sickness? it all makes sense now! confused

:? :? i thought the splitting headaches, nausea and jelly legs were all down to a change in the water or dodgy central heating in hotels or summat, but yep, it must be the trek over the top of the pennines!
s'ok tho missy cos you can acclimatise to it. all you need is a big tower block, and you just gradually work your way up in the lift till you can stand on the 16 floor for a bit without requiring oxygen! biggrin

I think the majority of the people here can distinguish between the decent single guys and those who are less worthy on here (at least I hope so). I know from experience that single guys are appreciated on the swinging scene and the majority of those males involved are respectful and considerate of those they meet.

I would like to say that as a single young bloke i thought I would be hung drawn and quatered and be burnt at the stake.
However it seams that isnt the case, I would like to thank then many people that have shown that this isnt the case.
I would also like to thank the people that have treat me well at the last social - i wont mention names but they know who they are.
I have met 1 asshole to and missy know's who he is as well. SHAM - ;)

Speaking as someone who joined as a single guy I would like to offer a word of advice (if that's not too presumptuous).
Misschief summed it up when she said that single guys are mostly "treated with the same respect they offer". I think that's the key. If you come blasting in with "So then, any1 want a shag?" or "r u up 4 it 2 nite" you can expect to get shot down in flames - and rightly so. If however, you join in with the general fun in the forum and show some respect and sensitivity you will be welcomed with open arms. Metaphorically at first and quite possibly literally in due course. wink

For your first PM to a lady you like the sound of try complimenting her on her posts or her avatar etc. and scarcely even hint at a meet. If you take that approach then you are almost bound to get a reply. The lady will feel complimented and not threatened. I am not pretending to be an expert - especially as I have only had one contact that went beyond a chat and a drink - but I have made some great friends and had some wonderful chats by PM, e-mail, phone and in person.
Finally, I did wonder if I was one of the idiots that Misschief referred to :sad: Then I suddenly thought, "Bloody hell! What if I am BOTH the idiots!!" :shock:
