Hey,
Not being familiar with British clothes / body sizes, I was wondering if somebody could help me understand roughly how large they indicate, i.e. how large the person is if they say they're size 10, 12, 16, etc.....
Thanks!
Clothes sizes mean little cos they don't seem consistent, but briefly if you can fit in a 10 you must be quite slim, 12 and 14 are a bit bigger and so on. At the NW Munch I wore items that ranged from 10 to 24 and they all seemed to fit. How can that be?
Alright, fair enough....
Would you say that 16 is pretty large?
Hey,
Thanks for the explanation - too bad that I also don't know Eastenders, which I guess is ironically due to the same underlying reason as me not knowing british sizes.... i.e. a lack of familiarity with British culture :-)
Thanks nonetheless...!
What a pleasant surprise to see this thread is not about c**ks or t*ts :!:
The other thing which can confuse things is how tall someone is. A 5' 0" size 14 can be quite cuddly (well rounded) but a 5'10" size 14 may not. Whatever the size, however, they're all lovely :!: :!:

It is nice to see you about the forum, and a welcome change to see someone not into the TV. I find little time, and watch less than 15hrs a week. Anyhow, thought I would say HI.
RedVelvet; thank you very much for that useful guide!
Ah, well.. I'm originally from the netherlands...... though I have to admit I know nothing of sizes there either: I guess it's a typical male thing; just go into the store and if it fits, it fits... if not... then grab something larger or smaller.... "what do you mean what's my size?" :-D
RedVelvet's description clarifies it sufficiently though...
Hmmm, I've pissed someone off again, damn, it really must be me. Sorry.
At this rate, I suspect the only 'to do' list I'm on is maybe a hitmans.
Oh, before I get licking, to answer your question AC: yes
And while I'm in an apologising mood, I'd like to say sorry for my blatant over-use of bold lettering tonight.
The problem with "sizes" is that while they are ment to be consistant and standard, some shops do mark the sizes down, wedding dress manufacutrers are notoriously bad for that, they use the minimum size "8-10-12-14-16" they can fit within the inches, so that it makes the bride feel good :-)
There is the other priblem that people dont fit into the standards with the whole of the body, some may be a 14-16 top, yet a 10-12 bottom... Ann summers have finally cottoned on to that and now sell most of the "sets" in individual items as aposed to buying a fixed size, then finding the top is to small and the bottom to large.
At a fery rough guide...
under 8 is very small/slim
8-10 Slimish
10-14 Average
14-16 Bigger build
18+ larger build.
BUT
Size is not all about attractiveness, I know people that phyiscally are the same build, on both sides of the large/thin equation. I know its a personal thing, but the line between "skinny/slim" and "big build/fat" can be so much down to attitude, aperence, choice of clothes, hair styles, and a number of other aspects.
I hope this doesnt get me flamed or upset anyone....
There are 4 people that I can think of off the top of my head that come into my local in ilkeston, 2 bigger lasses and 2 smaller lasses....
When you take the person as a whole, and look at everything about them, not just build... then they can be put into 2 oposing categories... "cor, shes great, yes I could" or "no way" in one there is a lass that is about a size 6-8 and one that is a size 18+ and again on the opersite side one is 6-8 and one 18+
I see some adverts on here that say "BBW," yet you look at the photos and think... no way shes a BBW, she looks about a 10-14. other times I look at ads that say "slim sexy woman" and you look and go "yeah right, shes a 18+ if shes anything."
Size also does not denote "fat or slim" a muscular well toned woman can be a 16 or whatever but have perfictaly smooth skin, not an ounce of fat... also a size 8 could be full of celulite, lank hair, etc....
What is important is that there is a spark, you look and go mmmmm, would she/he/they be interested because I am in them.
I remember seeing some article (kinsey institute I think) that said if takes a person less than a second to decide if they find someone visually/sexually attractive.
To me friendship takes longer, and love longer still. And friendship can lead to love with people that dont hit that sub-second "lust" factor, always keep an open mind :-)
I've just previewd this before sending... and a thought came to me...
Mens sizes dont have "size" grades but tend to be fixed measurements...
So what do women concider mens dimentions to be? where do they think... eeeek, skinny sod, or eeeeek, fat bugger! how do women class mens sizes or are they less fickle than the "average male" is PERCIEVED to be?
I have always concidered myself to be a skinny bugger, one ex said they never saw my size but just fell inlove with my eyes and attitude, but I've also had a few woman and couples turn me down saying "sorry but you are to thin" Not that I see that as a bad thing, at least a response is better than the usual no reply, or in the case of a night club being blanked, lol.
People should be honest, as I've always said... if you dont like the answer, dont ask the question!
