Like a lot of others , i feel really at home here, and quite defensive when someone has a bit of a go at SH. I still haven't worked out why it feels like home. Maybe it is the community thing. That 99% of the people I have met have been really decent . ( the 1% was MCB )
I do spend far too long on here, that is true, but it isn't a complaint. It keeps me out of the pub, I have a laugh, I haven't really sat and watched any television in months. I guess the forum and the chatroom make so much more sense once you have been to a munch or two. That you then have met the characters you see posting. That the longer you are around SH, the more you realise how much is going on below the surface. And being quite isolated here, in North Yorkshire, it keeps me in touch with everyone and what is going on.

The forum has ALWAYS been good to me. When I went through a really bad patch with my best mate my friends on here gave me all the support I needed at the time. When I have needed advice they've been there - even on such trivial things as computer sound cards. When I went away - it wasn't because the forum was boring or anything like that - I just had to concentrate on RL for a while.
Personally I have made some lasting RL friendships on here that I will always cherish.
I have laughed, I have cried and I have had a damn good amount of fun. Oh yes - I've also ranted and made an arse of myself a few times.
But I wouldn't change this place for the world

It's informative and educational. I'm a fairly well educated and well read woman, but the information gained from here about safe sex, different lifestyles and lessons learned about tolerance, understanding and acceptance have been invaluable.
It's not stuff I would ever have challenged myself about in the vanilla world, I may have had preconcieved ideas about certain things and have been "forced" to challenge those ideas and learn more about things/people who now mean the world to me but I may never have entertained a few years ago.
As a result, I do feel that SH has given me back, as much as I have put into it and that it has made me a better person with more tolerant, accepting beliefs.
