Something we haven't seen before in the chatroom.

Last night whilst chatting to a guy in an open room we were suprised to see something bobbing up in the corner of his cam. Now normally quite a few things can be seen bobbing up and down on cams, but this was a bit more unusual. We soon realised that it was his iPhone and that he was actually filming the screen.
Now we've been hanging around this site for eight years and have seen many different things, but this was a first for us. Has anyone else had the same issue?
We don't use the cams or watch them but Sasha does use the chatrooms so whilst this does not apply to us we have heard that this is quite a common occurrence, using phones or cam corders to record the pc screen ir the cam shows that go on in the chatrooms, it is so simple to do, then you can upload them on to your PC for future re-viewing or showing to your mates or even upload onto internet porn sites etc. Some sites will actually pay for the footage, kinda like "Beadle's about".
The footage belongs to the person who possesses it and as the people in the footage have not asked them to sign any contract ruling where or when it is published the law is on the side of the cameraman. Even those statements some people copy and paste into profiles about "you don't have permission etc" arent worth the paper they are not written on as they are unsigned and undated so could have been added at anytime after the usage took place, they were in fact the brainchild of internet information gatherers to see how quickly the statement would spread aroung the world and scene with people copy and pasting it onto profiles, a researcher can use certain words or phrases in the text to zoom in on profile using the statement, words and prhases like "timbuktoo university"
I think it's a bit naive not to realise that this is going on a lot more than perhaps you think it may be.
I work on the basis that if its online it can probably end up being widely distributed.

REALLY !!!!! ????? shit .... I'd better take the homemade snuff films down ... brb bolt
We are not as stupid as some might think, and we know this kind of thing goes on.
What I was getting at was the blatantness of it. The guy was on cam in a lobby room chatting with ourselves and others and filming it. If I was going to do this I wouldn't be typing with one hand and holding my phone in the other, and even if I did I wouldn't be doing it on cam in front of others.
If you spot anything dodgy like that going on, feel free to contact an Op or report the offender.

Have sent you a PM
I hate people that do anything like this. I hate people that upload this kind of shot to Youtube. The reason for this before touching on the ethical is its crap, cheap and low quality. Rest assured I'll never see the video as any video that shows footage of any TV or monitor screen has me head butting the back button in less than a second. In this day and age anyone can buy a capture card or download a piece of capture software for free. There literally is no need to film the screen so anyone who does must be thick. Add to that that its not a very nice thing to do as well. In all honesty I would say showing faces on cam or doing anything on cam now is highly dangerous if you want to stay anonymous.

lol Yes that's what I was thinking - that guy wasn't very tech savvy!
I've heard of one outrageous case where a user on here had her cam show recorded by someone, who then proceeded to play it back right on here at a different time!
I don't know whether to find it disturbing or amusing that the SH rules actually allow users to "save one copy", though not redistribute.

You may not redistribute images, photos or any personal data that you have found, copied or downloaded from our website. :eeek: dunno
I'm in a similar state of confusion.....

unless the rule apply's to the copy for use as wanking material :dunno:
This is what I was referring to:
3.2 In relation to the Service:
(a) You may:
(i) Display Materials electronically on a single computer to one person;
(ii) Download and store one copy of the Materials in machine readable form; and
(iii) Print one copy of the Materials.
(b) You may not:
(i) Download, store, reproduce, transmit, display, copy, distribute or use Materials other than in accordance with sub-clause 3.2(a) above;
etc.

If I am reading correctly this last clause means that... as long as the guy Trev is talking about showed his (I am sure, riveting) phone footage to one person at a time, he's still not breaking the site's rules. dunno
The "one printed copy" line does crack me up. Oops! I've soiled my printed copy. Better print off a replacement lol

Points i, ii and iii are irrelevant. They are absolutely impossible to control, prevent or verify. There is no way on earth SH can expect to know what I did with any material once it is downloaded. I could take film of a chatroom cam and post it online elsewhere. The chances of a fellow SH'r recognising where the images came from are minimal - unless I'm foolish enough to show it to them and they had seen it themselves in the room. Really there is no point making any rule that says 'You can't xxx' if there is no way to identify that 'they did xxx'.
TBH, if your prepered to show off on cam, you must be prepered for it to be shown all over the internet.............
Didn't see it going on, but from what I could work out, someone on another swing chat thought it would be amusing to cover their delicates with food and let the dog lick it off.......but only until someone called the plods and recorded the screen feed, fuckwitt!!!
Unfortunately this is the case with the net.
There is no way of stopping it.
So really make sure you know the people as best as you can before camming.

(v) Allow any other person to use the Materials other than in accordance with the terms and conditions.

For clarification, the one person would be the person using the PC, this is pretty much standard boilerplate text which allows someone to use the site, storage etc being the PC that the site is viewed on, without storing etc you wouldn't be able to view the site.
Looking at part (b) I think its pretty clear that copying and distributing images/video isn't allowed, we do deactivate accounts where we have reason to believe that this has gone on, so if anyone comes across such a case of a person recording video in chat report them to us or a chatroom op, together with details of when and where for us to investigate.
