Soothing a burnt finger

I just tripped over my adorable doggies. Of course I put my hand out to catch myself and put a finger slap bag on a still hot hob on the cooker. OUCH! :fuckinghell:
Stinging like crazy now. Any suggestions on how to soothe it appreciated.
Hope it doesn't scar mad

Loads and loads of running cold water ..... a burn carries on burning even after removal of the source of the burn. As long as possible and longer....
Lavender oil .... Seriously ....... it stops scars

Just ran it under the cold tap for about 5 minutes so it is all numb now! SO feel free to come and warm it up helen wink

Just wrapped a japanese thing around it. Not sure of it's name since I don't read Japanese :shock: Had to wrap a bandage around it to though to hold it in place. Makes me feel a bit of a plonker with it on but at least it feels cool biggrin

I was going to recommend sticking your finger in ice for a while, but under the circumstances I thought better of it. :shock:

Actuall the Ice thing does work - last week i burnt the top of my finger on some hot sand (where we had just had our BBQ) I used a bag of frozen peas - by the next day no soreness at all.

When I used to work in the building trade the old boys always used to say to toughen up your hands you should piss on them.
And if you burnt your hands in the fire, to piss on your hands.
Or was that piss on the fire??? :doh:

I think they were winding you up - urine contains ammonia which is corrosive. Not good for skin at all.

i am always buring a finger cooking or something...... lol
actaully the best thing to do is to just stick a bit of toothpaste on it... it takes the heat out of it...
i got told not by someone not to run cold water/ put ice on it as it can cause the finger to blister badly...
can someone confirm this.. as it would say me a fortune in blue minty gel....... biggrin

Cold water is perfect - not ice cold but cold, and it has to be running water as the heat from the burn soon makes still water warm, thus adding to the problem.
A fire hose is good!!
