Hello, I was just idly wondering how to spot an advert that is likely to spam you.
I recently responded to three and all three spammed me! rolleyes
One lady offered a premium rate phone number just to hear her voice, needless to say I did'nt fall for that one.
The others all directed me to a contacts site, which you had to supply credit card details.
Anybody else had the same experience?
Anyway are there any signs that might warn me that the advert is a spam or false ad? evil
Did you report these ads? If you get any more in future, PLEASE report them to us so we can remove them!
That's scary!
Sorry Bluexxx I did'nt! Please do not punish me! wink
But seriously I will from now on though! Some with email addresses seem more likely to be spam or false ads. Goddamn them! evil
Can EVERYONE who gets that kind of response, or one from dating/escort agency PLEASE REPORT IT!!
Sorry for shouting redface but we are getting all these reports about this stuff happening and no ad numbers or email address to sort it out. Very annoying and very frustrating.
We will do everything possible to keep this site safe, responsible, spammer and twat free so, please, help us out?
See, some of these scams are clever and we can't tell them from the real ones, so we do need people who fall prey of them to let us know. The effort of all the regulars who use the photo ads in reporting "T-Mobile girl" and her friends a few weeks ago was a great help to us and meant that they didn't get much air play on the site. cool
If anyone sees anything that looks dodgy or if you have evidence that particular ads are fake, we want to know!!!!
One neat idea might be to serve banned ads to the ip they came from. If t-mobile girl was seeing her ad, but no-one else was, she might think we were all wise to it?
Black Dalek is onto the banning IPs whenever possible - we are ALL working like mad behind the scenes doing the best we can in our spare/leisure time. Mark too.. he burns the midnight oil more but then he has all the super-strength magic powers.
Just got a PM reporting two of the photo ad twats - keep 'em coming.
lol
This is probably a good time for me to praise the sterling work that obviously goes on behind the scenes to keep this place neat and tidy - three cheers for the back-room people!
Yes, I agree with Mister Discreet! Keep it up dudes and dudettes!
Thanks! biggrin
Problem with just banning an IP is most people don't have a static one sad
If it is static then you could ban them, but if like most people they using a dynamic IP from a range you just end up blocking the next person to be assigned the IP by the ISP (Which Mark would know all about as he is an ISP I think?)
Even a static IP, you just cheat and go through a proxy server, new IP... Not as easy as it sounds. The only way to completely stop them would be to make the site a pay site, the cure is worse than the disease...
So it all falls to our wonderful mods to try and keep the balance, thanks mods smile
I've battle my way through the dense forest that it is Techno-shite (tmJags2004) and have to agree with the last speaker!
Things aren't as easy as we would like them to be - it's a case of ban, ban, ban. There is one particular prostitute who has been banned now about 14 times and pops back within a day or two until she gets bored and goes somewhere else.
Keep 'em coming in folks - your site needs you!!!
lol
By the time I recieved the spam's with the same email address, but different names, they had already been removed.
The thing was, I reconised both people in the adverts and the names matched up to the pictures in the profiles (Lolli and I cant remember the other name) and they have been advertising on sites for years, so I'm not sure if they have been hijacked or if they have been spammers for years on the other sites.
Ive noticed a few like that recently, there seems to be an upsurge in the use of mailboxes in the women for men section.I was eventually diverted to a paysite which i promptly got rid off.
Hi folks,
Here's my simple rule - ask yourself this question; "Is this ad too good to be true" ?
If it is then likely it's a wind up.
Genuine people include genuine things, little details etc., they're human after all and nice people too. Check the backgrounds in the pics, check the clothes (not just the lack of them) and back to an old chestnut of mine - the standard of the writing - bad in any of these areas suggests (to me at least) a non-genuine ad.
Spend a bit more time studying the ad and all its contents and a bit less time contemplating dipping your wick ! lol
Love & peace !

Praise to the mods. Keep up the good work folks.
Aha - it has just been pointed out to me that my ad looks fake - because one of the pics has a tag from a website on it. That is my own stupid fault but it is me and I'm a now trying to sort it (it was me who posted it on the site and then copied it back off)
Think if I was going to nick pics off the web I'd have choosen the Pammy look a like ones rather than the Vicar of Dibley ones.
I am such a naive sometimes - I've never (yet) come accross anyone other then genuine folk - So I'm sure it must be big praise to the Mods and Modettes for there great work.
Cheers

This isn't a totally foolproof method of spotting the fakes, but it may help.
How to spot a genuine ad - most genuine advertisers are thinking primarily about the people they want to make contact with. Anyone whose ad specifies in detail who the ad is aimed at is almost certainly genuine. A scammer doesn't care who responds to the ad as long as you respond, so it's not going to be aimed at any type of person in particular, and the focus will be entirely on the advertiser, not the target audience. So, the "Me me me" adverts will include all the scammers, and even the genuine ones among them aren't worth bothering with anyway, so my advice is to disregard any ad that is total self-centered.
