Do you prefer to have a Steam Room?

Can we have a ........
SOFTIE/SWEETIE/NICEY NICE ROOM TOO?
A nice place to go where you arent allowed to post anything nasty?

A lot of threads turn into just that after about 2 pages anyway. :lol2:
There have been attempts at a nice/flirty room along the way.
Why not start a new one Sam?
biggrin
If someone has a steam that needs to be aired, why can it not be in it's own thread?

cos it looks self indulgent, as though it's a personal rant about personal stuff? generally best to avoid those situations, especially so since we've specifically been given a specific thread to steam in? ;) it doesn't flood the forum, and it avoids a 'look at me' type post that gets jumped on from a very great height! ;)
It's too easy for things to be misconstrued in the steam room as very often the whole rant is not written, just hints at what the problem is.

that's it's strength? it is often a great way to vent, out of context, without direct reference to others on a thread, cos if you did it in context, it might start to look personal, and start skating close to AUP? depending how it's interpreted? in the Steam Room, you'd have to have actually have read the thread it's all about, and understand the hints, to put it in context. whether it's really relevant or not is very much a matter of interpretation? ;)

To single out the single males for these actions is rather unfair....

general reply . . .
the steam room has to be left, IMHO obviously! sometimes, you really need somewhere you can vent your frustrations, without quoting or referring directly to other members, slanging matches, or personal vendettas.
sometimes, threads will spin us off on tangents, that are off-topic hijacks? we need to be able to express our thoughts, thoughts that admin, mods, other members, etc, might find unpalatable if you chucked 'em directly in their face on a controversial thread? you don't wanna be directly confrontational, so you take it out of context, remove the personal aspect, try to be more general in your use of language, and on the whole get the whole thing off your chest, without falling into the trap of ripping someone to pieces.
keep it. :)

No, this would reduce the niceties to one place surely... this is the nice part of the main threads, niceties interspersed amongst the facts/opinions/discussion threads without taking over threads that are totally fluffy which are not everyone's cup of tea.
Just IMHO

A little late, but I vote 'keep'.
If I'm posting in the steam room:
Dont quote me, don't reply to me and don't comment. It's the steam room, not up for discussion. I'm letting my frustration out and it's not, deffinately not, up for discussion.
I want to vent my spleen in my own way about my own stuff, I do so and I don't want to be questioned in the thread(obviously posting within AUP).
PM me if there is a question/comment/reply thingie to anything I've vented about. The whole point of the steam room is that I can vent without people feeling the need to reply to it, comment nor get into a conversation about things. If I wanted to do that I'd start a thread.
