Strange attraction to France

As Monday slowly approaches I have been having some funny feelings.
I have had a strange attraction to buy baguettes instead of a sliced tin loaf...........I see a flapping red, white and blue cloth when I close my eyes.........small amphibians and gastropods seem ok to eat for lunch.........and I have taken to riding a bike wearing a striped tee-shirt, a beret and a string of onions around my neck.

This makes me want to sing "La Marseillaise".
And in my sleep I keep seeing the letters and numbers "Fra 2-0 Eng".
I also have an urge to scream:
Vive Le France
I have no idea what this means or why I am getting this feeling.................but some unknown feeling inside of me tells me that I am going to enjoy Monday lol
Dave_Notts
im out there about 5 times a year dave
the further in the better it gets love the place wink
Dave
Just keep eating the "small amphibians and gastropods" and you will be so taken aback with what you have been missing, it will take your mind off Monday's events lol
I've passed through France so many times that I have lost count, however I've never spent any time there (except for a few days at Disneyland Paris with the kids but I dont suppose that really counts).
Out of the blue this week though I found out that I have a half brother. Turns out he lives in central France. I had a look on Google maps and it is proper in the middle of nowhere and sooooo beautiful.
Think I may have to pay a visit!

Is there something happening on Monday? Smooth1 (South Wales)
We are down in Cap D'Agde. great place, good food and wine and great entertainment! We love France!
I've always enjoyed visits to France, although I've generally stayed in Paris for the main part of visits, and I loved the romance of it all.
I'm not sure what happens monday, didn't understand that bit...it's getting ever so near to "Le Tour" time once again though, surely one of the most engaging events in the calendar.
Ah, it's Dave, the first of no doubt many Welshmen, and also Scots, who will be joining the "Anyone but England for the Euro 2012" brigade in time for a certain football match Monday teatime.
Well, next week he'll have a harder time convincing us that he's always been SOOOO fond of Ukraine. lol

To the "Anyone but England for the Euro 2012 brigde". We the English are sorry that your sad and pathetic footballing nations have AGAIN failed to quailfy for a majour tournament :lol2: Where as we the Enlglish have earned the right to get beaten by France (Or not) or lose on penalties at some stage in the competition. Your players however have earned the right to holiday in the south of France so as you love the place so much you could just **** off an join them flipa
We the English, getting beaten by France or not wish you the insignificant others the very best of enjoyment of your future unsuccesful qualifying campaigns. Long may they continue. Should you however by some modern miracle actually qualify for majour tournament we the English will still enjoy as normal watching you do significantly worse than we do normally by not even progressing past the group stages.
Viva France, Rule Britania and congratulations to every nation that actually qualifies. The rest of you can kiss my St George flag painted ring piece :smug: loseing to France or not :P
This thread was interesting until I realised it was about football. Absolutely can not stand the sport, and there's virtually nowhere I can go to permanently avoid it.

I posted earlier, but I too had no idea it was about football, nor did I have any idea that it was intended as having a pop at England's football team. I find football boring these days, nothing more nor less.
As far as England are concerned good luck to them. They qualified to be where they are, what else is there to say. I'm a scotsman who bears no resentment whatsoever to England or the English people, except for a few of the m.p's maybe. So all you footy fans enjoy and be nice to each other.

A simple statement, but that's one of the things that annoys me most about the sport is the fans. riots, fights, general twatish behaviour are one of the sports defining features, not to mention the lack of sporting behaviour by most of it's participants.
Judging by my Facebook news feed I suspect there might be a football match being played out......
.... and it ain't going too well? dunno

Do behave.
I have been to many sporting events, in many countries and have always had great days out with home and away fans. That's with football, rugger, cricket and even ice hockey.
For the very minority who may bring dishonour on the sport and fans..............there is a vast majority who love the sport, the participants and the fans.
You believe what you want to believe.............I'll carry on ribbing any opposition in the good humour it was given out..................... and received back from them.
Anyway........................................................

Well i'm a football fan, i'v watch all England games and most of the other games so far, i am also a season ticket holder for my local team. I also go to watch other sports and im my 50 years i have never been in a riot or a fight nor have i behaved like a twat there, so not every fan is how you describe, in fact the vast majority of sport fans are the same as me and simply enjoy it ! Don't tar us all with the same brush, most that cause trouble are not true sports fans !

I must be the biggest maggot Rob
When it is not my team, I will watch a match and can be neutral. When it is a rival team that can have a bearing on my team, I will hope for the other team to win. When my team is not in a competition then I will hope that any other team wins over the rivals of my team.
Some just watch a sport and support no-one. Others support someone and will hope that their rivals lose. This is just the way of the world in sport wink
Now would I hope anything horrible ever happens to a rivals team/players i.e. break a leg, have a life changing injury, etc..........then hell no. They are just sportsmen and women doing their job. It is the colours or team rather than the people in it.
Dave_Notts
Well done Sweden, now go home lol

I don't mean to apply that to everyone who follows football. It's definitely the minority of fans that cause trouble, but it's a constant minority at every event it seems. the sport is always in the headlines for some fight or riot somewhere and there are several high budget movie releases dedicated purely to the violence of the sport. that doesn't happen with Rugby/Tennis/Cricket etc...

Totally agree with you. It is a constant minority and the police admit it will be constant. Their tactics are geared to ensure that this minority do not spoil it for the majority.
Footbal is unlucky that these people have associated themselves to this sport........rather than the sport encouraging this behaviour.
IMO these "fans" should have a lifetime ban from any sporting event and their passports are removed for 10 years, and not just for sporting events.
As a fan I hate the opposition team as an entity. I wish that they lose every game and achieve nothing as a club honour. However, the opposition fans, players, managers, backroom staff, etc are human just like me...........and I wish no harm or ill to them.
