I buy it to watch my youngest daughters face turn inside out :lol2:
It looks so pretty that every time she just has to try it - and hey presto lemon sucking face :lol2:
Me and my eldest adore it - only tend to buy it when it's going cheap cos it's Use by 2 hours ago, amazed we haven't got the trots from it :lol2:
Ewwww don't like that pickled ginger tho, gives me the same lemon face as my youngest lol
Missy - wondering if gurning is in the genes confused
I've never had it and not too sure that I want to confused
Which one of you has fallen out the chatroom and can't find your way back in, F or B :lol2:
Raw fish? Eeuuuuwwwwww!!!! :gagged:
I like my food dead and cooked!
Bleugh!.. I absolutely hate the stuff! :scared:
No matter how many times I've tried sushi I still can't bring myself to like it. Mrs Kiss loves it.
I've eaten it but its just another form of food to me .. but then I'm a philistine .. I think Champagne is a waste of money and would rather have a desert wine as a drink or a good cup of tea .. very un PC me lol.

ooh i love it! ive only tried the supermarket stuff though! I really must make the effort to find a restaurant that does it properly! :inlove:
I love it smile
I never used to dislike it until i found a recipe where you coat it in batter and deep fry it with some sliced potatoes - then season with salt and vinegar . Now i love it !
I have had the misfortune to bite into a fishfinger that I hadn't cooked thoughly and tasted the raw fishy bit in the centre..
Bleurgh!!
Its kind of put me off taking the plunge and trying sushi even though I do stop to admire the pretty looking are most impressive
but still
Bleurgh!!!
I love sushi and contrary to popular belief it doesnt all contain raw fish.
I also like the principle behind eating in a sushi bar/ of having a plate piled with food put in front of you and eating it all just because it`s there, you take a small plate with a small sushi item on it and after that if you want some more you can take another plate with something else on it (from the plates going past on the little conveyor belt) and so on til you feel you`ve had enough and when you actually stop and think to yourself "do I want some more?" you find you feel full and are happy to leave the table eating probably quite abit less than you would have done normally.
And it`s healthy food rice, veggies, fish, seaweed, sesame seeds and loads of other healthy stuff.
Just a shame it`s so expensive. rolleyes
I hate fish sushi (sushimi) but home made vegetable or even chicken with sushi is good.
Use thin strips of blanched corrots or beetroot or some spinach or even lightly cooked french beans. Lovely!! Wjatever ytou fancy. Dont forget to use the horse radish sauce (wasabi) and maybe a little ginger too. And make up a light soy and saki dip (getting hungry now).
Great to use as canapes or snacks cheap easy to prepare tasty as you like a bit of a pose - Altogether a great bit of food!
Not a lover of raw things altho the fishy smell can be good in some circumstances lol
Not sure about a Sushi bar, ok without a tie I guess?
Love it...
Eat it often when away but not so much at home?? Not even sure why lol...
One thing for sure it does taste different in the Far East Maybe just fresher not sure?? Is real brain food... then again maybe not lol.
With the right dips there is something for everyone who enjoys fish...

It's quite easy. You'll need some seaweed, sushi rice, rice wine vinegar, and mirin, all of which can be found in the 'strange foreign food' section of larger supermarkets. You also need a bamboo mat to roll it, which you'll need an Oriental supermarket for. And of course whatever bits you want to put in it. You can get creative there. And a good sharp knife.
The packet the seaweed comes in has all the instructions. Cook the rice, add the mirin and vinegar, stick it on the seaweed along with the fillings, roll, cut, eat.
It's a bit messy the first time, if, like me, you put too much rice in. But it still tastes good.
Yum.

I personally can't stand the stuff. makes me shudders. i've always been turned off by raw meat. well. even Beef has to be Well done before i chomp on it.
there is a Chinesse buffett in Birmingham, that does Sushi and sashimi. which is about £9. so ya can eat buckets of it.
Sushi is the Marmite of the Sea food world.
If god had meant us to eat raw food, he wouldn't have invented McDonalds...
never tried Sushi, actually. It might be the best food ever but I will never know, because the very idea of it turns my stomach.
I ate it non stop for two years and I love it. I still make it quite often, it’s actually very easy to make and most of the ingredients can now be bought in high street shops and supermarkets.
Sushi, isn’t raw fish btw, although it can sometimes contain raw fish, you are thinking of Sashimi.
Sadly the stuff they sell in the shops is a pale imitation of the real thing.
the thought of it makes me heave, i am the worlds pickiest eater so there is no way i will ever even try it.
even tonguey who eats almost anything wont touch it - so it is saying something! lol
meant to say, its still got the mingin minge smell too. we were in selfridges food court yesterday buying treats, and the smell of sushi from the other end of the shop was still noticable to me, though tonguey could not smell it.

Oh My God! That is so true!
lol
The thought is just not appealing to me, some things are just not meant to be tried even once!
