Does anything happen in the likes of China, Slovakia, the Democratic Republic of Congo etc.?
Or is it a distinctly Western culture thing?

I think it could be a western thing. If you saw part of a series about people going to Thailand for different reasons, one fellow was a photographer, and was looking for Thai bar girls for photo shoots.

It seems there are different levels of acceptance for certain things sexual.
Even in Canada it's still mainly cloak and dagger stuff, except in maybe Quebec province.

I don't know how prevailant something like swinging would be in more religious based countries and more rural countries. Chinese are very supersticious and spiritural as a rule. Alot of these countries have more of a 'men are men, and the wife stays home while he goes to a prostitute' mentality, like many places in Africa. In some countries men are known to practice homosexuality for extra ciricular activity and before marriage, because sex with the wife is for procreation.
Some places are too 'small town'. Did you see the episode of real wife swaps where the couple from what was it? Norway? came out as swingers, and he got fired and they eventually had to move?
I agree with the western society making money from it, but I do believe there are other factors involved in many other societies.

i am from colombia people and there we have a really wrong idea about swingers is more like prostitution why?? cos the society is really moral so is not see it with good eyes, thats why we have the wrong concept about it ...but i am glad to be here and learn lol :bounce: also like one of our friends said before is more like the macho thing the man can do it the girl have to be in home :jagsatwork: i know that sucks i hope that change soon there

I certainly wouldn't put England in the top two, but below at least France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark, all of which have had many well-established swinging clubs for years, and where the culture is generally more open and accepting about them.
And I suspect it's only a few states of the US which are well catered for with swinging clubs.

We wanted to visit one on a trip to Canada, and would be required to meet one of the organisers in a prearranged place and prove who we were.
