It's occurred to me that there are some people here who regularly post ads to hook up with others, but a huge number who don't and who appear lurk in the background, so to speak.
So, just curious as to:
1. how many people actually meet others
2. how many would like to but haven't had the opportunity
3. how many don't actually want to meet others but are just intrigued by the subject.
In the interests of promoting honesty, I'll state that I would fall into the second band, but started off in the last one.
(I have tried posting this as a poll but everytime I press submit it comes back saying there is an error... anyone know why?)

I'd have to fall into the second category too. I've never actually met anyone off the site because I'm so nervous and shy that I can never pluck up the courage to meet anyone.

The main reasons for this is are:

Meeting through social events allowed me to get to know who people were in a non pressurised safe environment.

1. Well you tell me your a guy!! But maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are a lot more couples advertising on here than single females, supply and demand?
2. Beware, they creap up on you like hunters in the night, and before you know where you are they are cooking you meals and your offering to wash up!!!!

We regularly meet up with people off the site but at have probably had the same number of let downs and time wasters
which is soooo frustrating.
But as a newbie to the forums I now find I have just as much fun in the forum as I do if I have people round which is fab cause you cant get frustrated if your not expecting a response lol

Do you mean "post ads to hook up" - in the photo ads section of the site, and include the threads/posts in the LMU forum ?

I notice your joined date as being at the end of December.
To me, the joined date information is now worthless, to the point of being mis-information; but I'm posting as though you have recently joined the site.

But I think what sometimes need to be borne in mind is that the site - pre 4 tops - had a very active and vibrant "social" aspect to it.
Many, many "meets" resulted from that social aspect.
Indeed - 100% of mine, as a then swingle; resulted from neither the photo ads or a LMU "meet" post.
I think they were all as a result of being known around the place and being met at the various social events.
My ego would also say that a couple came from personal recommendations

I guess I am referring to the photo ads and you're right, I am a relative newcomer so it's just inital impressions I suppose. It does seem to me that there's a huge gulf between the forum and the photo ads section, in fact I'd almost say they were inhabited by separate communiities but I'm sure that's not entirely so. And I'm not wishing to cast aspersions on those that lurk or even those that I inadvertently categorise as such... many apologies
This area (the forums) does seem to have a distinctly sociable feel to it and it would appear that trust and acceptance is gained through regular interaction, whereas the ads section is the "market meat" side of things.
Well, I'll have to hang around a bit longer to see how the social side of things develops.

However that experience was not arranged in any way it was spontanius it just happened on its own. So when we first came to SH photo ads and forums we were definately a little dissapointed that it isnt quite that easy here. Have now adpated to the forum way which to us besides being a little ruder and cruder :grin: its not a great deal different to other non related forums we post at. We are heading to a munch and hopeing to organise one but are now not realy expecting to swing with anyone from here as we are a bit limited for time due to other things we wish to do in life.

After a few introductory emails, we normally arrange an initial meet in a pub to see if we all get on, and so far, we've met some very nice men, and a couple of them have become regulars.
Him indoors isn't keen on going to a munch or clubs, but I let him look at the pretty pictures in the gallery and he helps with deciding which ads to reply to.

well we are in category one we meet people from here, but as we are after the elusive bi fem they are far and few between, we do get a good number of replies but a lot turn out to be time wasters what a shock

As for SH, I've again met two women. On both occassions, these came through the photo ads and not the forums. I've only just started using the forums, and I feel it's a better way of contributing to the site, and a better way of making new friends. Besides, I've recently discovered that using the forums is much more fun than just placing an ad and showing the women my naked body!
Having said all this, I don't consider myself a full-time swinger, and sometimes I take a break from it. This doesn't mean that I click my fingers and turn the 'action' on and off. I'm not in control of that!

Hi Mr Tweeky,
When I was with my ex for two years, we'd take part in MMF, and we'd also meet up with other couples. So I feel that, albeit for a short while, I have lived a swinging lifestyle.
But I do see your point of view. You're saying that it's only couples that can be considered as swingers. Basically, now that I'm single again, I've been demoted and therefore lost my swinging stripes. I guess I'll just have to climb the ranks and earn them again!

This is a topic that has been debated quite a few times in here. Some swinging couples can be quite scornful about singles who meet up with each other for sex calling it "swinging", but if singles meet up via this site for recreational sex as opposed to "dating" of the romantic kind, why not call it swinging - seems the most apt term for it to me!
Now for the original question. I had an ad in here for a year, had a few enquiries, but nothing that led to a meet at all. I have met up with one or two single women for sex and friendship via exchanging messages in these cafe forums, and I have met people socially at munches and meets.
