Swinging and working lives

When I finally plucked up the courage to explore the swinging lifestyle some time ago,
I suppose I had an unflattering expectation of the kinds of couples that I might meet.
Needless to say of course, this proved quite wrong (thank god!) and all of them
(bar one awful exception) have been delightful, discreet, health conscious and
hugely respectful.
However, there has been one notable factor which has puzzled me, and I wondered
whether any of the couples could shed some light on this. And this is it ...
Nearly all of the couples I have met (not through SH, I should add) have been self-employed.
Does anyone have any views on this? Is there something about the work-life balance in
modern British life that makes it more appealing or easier for self-employed people to swing?
Or does swinging naturally lend itself to middle-class sensibilities?
Just a thought ...

AArrrrrrghhhhhhh I hope not. I have been self employed for 5 years and I hate it and find I have no work-life balance at all - mostly I just work (and worry).
I am hoping to become employed soon - if I can find anyone to give me a job (any and all offers will be considered). I was seriously hoping that this would give me more room - mentally and physically to enjoy myself a bit more.
Now reading this I'm thinking maybe I've got it wrong.
CQ - job hunting
I'm not self employed and I am quite happy to admit that I sepnd an awful lot of my work time involved in swinging activities. I am actually working now and am on the forum but who gives a toss. I will be skiving off tomorrow to go dogging... who's gonna find out? Ha ha.... flipa
Ash,
If you are only available in the afternoon, this may suit some self empolyed people as they can easily get away from what ever they are doing.
Where as people who work in offices etc etc cannot just get up and leave to go out.
This might be why you have only meet self empolyed people.
When you are swinging with someone, does their employment really matter?

LOL!!
I am also 'Non-Self-Employed' - and hey, guess what.............!!!! wink

ps I'm not skiving tommorow to go dogging - we tried it once didnt like it (dogging that is, I would never skive!!!)
So can I assume that all of the people I employ all spend their days planning dogging and swinging meets and generally skiving about.
Should I be especially concerned now that I've sent the completely computer illiterate bunch on a basic course and bought them a new 'puter.

Yes, absolutely
I think its something to do with the mentality of people who are self employed, we are perhaps more used to taking risks and more open to trying new experiences..
However, if I found one of my employees using time that I was pauinmg them for to arrange their social lives, they would be straight out the door.

I do agree actually. If I was employing me, I would have been fired long ago! evil
And here I am, STILL on the forum and STILL working rolleyes

So you never have a work's Christmas party ? Nobody goes to the pub after work ?
Everybody's employees do non-work activities - constantly ! If you ever try to enforce that to any degree I guarantee your best employees will be out of the door, whether you want them to be or not...
Hiyas,
I was employed and Mike is self employed. xx
I think swinging is not class related. xx
Having met a large number of people I have found them to be from all walks of life. xx
people do get off work or throw ''sickies'' at times to participate in swinging activities and others just daren't. xx
Chatting to people in the chatroom you find that there are a number of people with time restrictions and days when they can and can't meet up. xx
Hi everyone
Thanks for all your comments - much appreciated!
I hope I didn't offend anyone by my original post, I have met
couples who aren't self-employed as well, its just that most
of them have been (although that's just been my experience).
Regardless of background, etc the couples I've met have the
most stable, rock-solid partnerships, and have been a joy to
spend time with.
Cheers to you all
Ash
