Hi all, No doubt you have all heard or read something by now on the swinging vicar Rev Teresa Davies and her husband Mick.
We I think after reading the article we should support her and go and have our say with a comment for her. This must be a very bad time for Teresa and her family and just to know that there is support out there for her from fellow swingers would be nice.
I am sure there are many of us that consider ourselves christians, but that doesnt stop us from having fun in the swinging scene and doesnt make us any less of a person/persons. So why should she feel like she is the devil in carnate just cus she wore the collar.
Click on the link people and show your support for Teresa. Thank you
I'm going to move this to the Cafe because it's not related to the chat room.
However, my view is that a display of public support may not be appropriate in this case. To quote from the article:
"Since her personal life was revealed, Teresa has kept a low profile......"
and:
"Our lives have been turned upside down. I’m speaking out because I want to move on."
Knowing the way the papers work, the more "support" people show, the more they'll drag it all out.
Just my two-pence worth.

The way I see it is that it's nothing to do with personal choice of the vicar and his wife. it is all about hypocracy.
I have always lived by the rule, If you join the club you must obey the rules. If you don't then you are a hypocrite.
The vicar professing to be a Christian, has joined the Christian church/club and has a rule book. That rule book, according to ALL Christian churches is the New Testament. The New testament is against swinging, buggery, homosexuality etc.,
They broke the rules.
Nuff Sed
i believe if you profess a set of social rules then you should live by them. Being a vicar and swinging is hypocritiacal. Choose one or the other I did
There's nothing wrong with swinging, there's nothing wrong with being a christian and swinging. What's wrong is that SHE preaches the sanctity of marriage, she stands in front of hundreds and is supposed to be a role model. She could well stand as counsellor for people who need help and advice on various matters, she chose that way of life and she should really stick with it or leave, take up another job and remain swinging.
I'm not saying what's she's doing is wrong, I'm not saying it's right BUT I don't agree with her doing an open interview about it all.
She should be more careful in her position in my opinion and I therefore won't be 'supporting' her.
Sam, I don't give a shit!
The trouble is with the church is we know they are full of bloody hypocrits.
They seem to preach one thing, and then privatly do something completly the opposite.
If I was in her shoes I would tell everyone to mind their own business, as to what I do in my private life....if only everything was so simple in life.
ah, but... how many of us are telling others how they should live thier lives?
advocating also on behald of the little red fella with fork and tail

I really don't know what to make of this case. Has she truly done anything wrong or is this just a witch hunt by the closed minded Church and community as a whole?
On the one hand, she took a wedding vow to 'forsake all others' and keep herself just for her husband. She also broke one of the Commandments which sets the basis for her faith.
On the other hand, she was a representative of a faith that apparently advocates forgiveness - something which her peers seem to be lacking.
I've no doubt that, considering the job I do, my bosses would be horrified at what I get up to behind closed doors. Saying that, I don't see it as anybody's business but mine. My nocturnal activies have no effect on my job or my ability to do it well.
I think the only thing this vicar should be rapped on the knuckles for is turning up for sermons still 3 sheets to the wind. She admits she had a drink problem but her bosses could have given her support for that ( Lord knows there must be more pissed vicars than sober ones!! )
She was silly for letting slip her and hubby's penchant for naked sunbathing and swinging but I personally don't see how their sex life can affect her doing her job.
I'm atheist and I don't know much about religeous protocol, but doesn't the bible teach against homosexuality, and the church allows openly gay clergy?
That doesn't seem to fit with the church being up in arms about this woman's private life.
Correct me if I'm wrong (someone here must know more about it than I do) but wasn't the C of E kick-started by Henry VIII so he could divorce and marry another woman? Isn't that an early example of swinging?
If she wants to carry on with her lifestyle then she should - but she must give up her position. Thats the trouble with this country nowadays, people in high positions have the same policy - "Don't do as I do, do as I say".
