im taking an extended break from the site.
my character has been called into question in the forums and for me i feel it is unexceptable and possibly character assassination.
the resulting action of another person could lead people to spread rumors, innuendo, half-truths and a munipulation of facts.
we all know the damage this can have on someone on these sites even more so as im a single man.
so it is best i take a step back, take time to think things over and return if i feel i can salvage my name and rebuild it.
i wish everyone well.

Hey tyracer... the comments were on your post, not on your character! It is easy enough to take things personally but I doubt any insult was intended. And I don't think a random post or a post's rebuttal would ever shatter - or even mildly alter - people's opinion about a user's personality. These impressions are formed over time and it takes more than a couple of funny posts that to change them.
I feel for you as I have recently gone through a week or two where I felt like I was being witch-hunted in chat... By all means, if you think a break would help you go ahead. I hope you feel positive again soon.

I rarely look at who writes a post, the who doesn't interest me in the slightest, it is what they write I am interested in, and if they don't like me, whooopee, some will some won't but one thing is for sure, I won't lose any sleep over it.

Hardly anybody reads the forums anyway and even less people take any of it seriously !
Honesty is about being truthfull with your opinions not about personal attacks, now I haven't read the post that started all this off but personally, I have no problem with people disagreeing with my views, they are just my opinion, nobody has to agree with them, but they have no right to say anything about my character for having an opinion that differs from thiers. I respect thier right to have an opinion and will not degrade or be abusive to them for not agreeing with me.
My favourite thing about forums is the fact that they are for debate, not arguments, not bullying, not forcing you views on someone and not abuse, I have found that over the years debate in forums has occasionally changed my opinion of something, other times it has re-inforced my opinion, I have certainly learnt a lot from the debates and long may it be that way.
You can say you don't agree with someone and you can give your own opinion of a situation but you cannot say that saying some one is wrong is being honest it is only your honest opinion of a situation, just because you believe it doesn't mean you are right and someone else is wrong. There is a world of difference between accusing someone of being something without proof and having an opinion about someone.
But of course that is "just my opinion"

He already had plans to be away anyway, according to one post in LMU about Broad Street in September (posted much earlier than his flounce or the thread he thinks his character was questioned).
So he was using his so called assassination of his character as an excuse for some attention, for something he was going to do anyway...

My pet hate on these forums is your need to tell the world your leaving, slamming the door then reappearing some time later like it never happened, if you goner go, just go, if you want to tell anyone, take it to PM.

Personally, I question the other person's character more so!!
Tyracer, dont go because of another persons comments about you, there are so many people on this site who say such harsh things about others but for every one of them there are several nice people who dont judge others or make such harshl comments ..... stay and enjoy life and ignore those who are not as pleasant

Hey breaks can take many different shapes and forms! Taking a break from the forums but still replying to private messages... Taking a break from chat but continuing to browse ads and profiles... Personally I am on an SH vacation, while using this extremely low-impact account

Loads of people take time out from the chatroom and forum but still login to email, check for meets etc.

Nothing changes on here, does it? How many times people flounce 'cos they don't like what they hear.
I understand getting your back up if you think people are having a go but forums are about airing opinions and if you put yours on here, surely you're automatically accepting you are opening yourself up to all kinds of attention and criticism?
