I want to buy a gift for a very close friends and she needs a set of Tarot cards. They have to be given to you you cant buy them yourselve which is why she does not have a set.
I want to buy a used set in a wooden box, i just missed out by 50p on an auction on ebay because i was watching the stupid rugby banghead :banghead: :banghead:
any one know of any shops localish to me in herts that i can visit or should i just continue with ebay.
suggestions on types of cards and boxes would be helpful to.
thanks
you shouldnt use a second hand set honey - unless its a 'passed down the family' set. Tarot cards are very personal, the same principal as with psychics can pick up energy from someones personal items such as watches, rings, cap etc -something that's an everyday part of them - a second-hand set is 'unclean' and will contain the energy of the previous user.
Even if you are going to get a second-hand set, get them from someone you know, and who you know knows how to use them, not some wannabe who's selling em on Ebay wink

yes but would rather it a surprise im going for visit in a couple of weeks they live in Ireland and shes been so good to me through all my toubles
There are loads that are mass-produced now - can pick them up for under a fiver in bob standard bookshops etc, and to be honest the cost/quality etc wont matter a jot because its how your friend will use them/ read them that counts.
That said, there are lots of styles/ designs & it's that which is most important - something she'll have a instant affilation with (like...unicorns...fairies...olde worlde text, colour, intricate pictures (more 'artwork' than just a pic) and it depends on how much you want to spend.
If you're arty in any way, I'd recommend making and painting them yourself, as that makes them highly personal and truly a gift ( simply use good quality craft card - and ffs dont laminate, that's just nasty lol ...copy each card from both Arcarnas - there's plenty of pics on 'tinternet to use a a guide for the basic pic) Other than that, if you know her that well, you'll know which deck to get when you see it - a specialised occult shop is your best bet
i dont really have the time to do my own and i can be arty but on this occasion not.
i have fallen in love with a set which are not limited edition so to speak.
probable spent far to much on them really but they a style i know she would like and they just jumped out at me and i believe thats how you should buy things of this nature. see there was a reason for me not winning that ebay auction. cool
of forgot:

its this
Oooh those are lovely Wineman! I see they are the follow up ones to the Gilded Tarot. Its the Gilded ones I've got and they jumped out at me too!
Cost me a bit more than other decks but well worth it I say!
Good choice.

If she is not that experienced then choose a tarot deck that has a person for every card - makes it a little bit easier to feel the meaning of each card.
When it comes to choosing a deck think very strongly of the person the deck is for and then see which one you are most drawn too.
Enjoy
You know what? I think the fact that you've put so much thought and effort into finding the right set for your friend will mean that the right set for her has found you biggrin
Well done xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

she does have some experiance and knowledge especially with fortune cards, as you know she has to been given her own set by a friend. Anyways got an email this afternoon hes shipped them already so should have them in time hen i visit shes going to be sooo chuffed.
thanks for the advice ladies  cool
they have arrived :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: well in time for next weekend.
i really want to look at them but going to leave it to her as i dont want to touch them, i think that should be her privilege. cool 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)
Yes UK it's always best to let the person open them as so important they put their feel on the cards first.
That way they can get them to work properly for them.
Only one set I found haven't really worked for me never felt drawn to then at the start.
Sure your friend will be over the moon with your choice for her.
Enjoy your visit UK

I have a couple of sets as i really felt the ones i first brought ten years ago chose me!
I have since brought others only to be still sat in their box in the cupboard!
I have found that angel cards make a great accompanying tool to a really good reading.
I also do palmistry, psychometry and medium readings.. but finding time is very differcult in lifes hectic days!!
I'm sure she will find if she is comfortable with them or not instantly!
I do have one tip for her... meditate.. meditate.. meditate!!
It really does make such a difference and welcomes love.. healing light.. and protection for her readings.
biggrin
