Tattoos....good idea or bad?

Is getting a tattoo a good idea or bad?
H (fem half) is considering getting a tattoo but wants me to approve of it before getting it done. Before I say either way I thought I'd ask on here and get some opinions from people who may possibly see it in the future (she's planning to get it so that she'd have to be virually naked for anyone to see it)!

P.S. It's quite frightening writing you first topic...after reading the rules I've spent 15 mins trying to make sure I've not done anything wrong!!

Hey!
Great first thread - am sure lots of opinions!
I love my tattoo. But then it is very discreet and very personal to me, something I am more than happy to live with and look at every day.
My advice would be get one if 100%.
I love 'em - think they can be hellish sexy on the right person....

I have 2 tattoos and am planning my next one....a large guardian angel on my back.
I think tattoos can be very sexy but it depends what they are and where they're done.
That could be the new game at the next Pussy Posse.......Guess where the tat is :twisted:

For me it has to be somewhere that can be covered for work reasons. Mine is on my right thigh - thankfully I don't wear a swimming cossie to work!! :shock:
But there are loads of potential spots... lotsa sexy bits to be adorned!! :twisted:

Mine is on the top of my thigh and I would love another on my back, but I would probably end up in the divorce court (hubby hates them with a vengence) and value my marriage more than wanting another tattoo.
If you are 100% sure, then go for it. Make sure it is a good place you chose, and ideally one which someone you trust can recomend. BUT, and there is always a but, I have to say, they bloody hurt redface

I always do something wrong or say something wrong, but I still have fun in the forums and some great people with some great views and outlooks. Welcome to the forum. lol

I have 5 of them and one was done about 2 years ago on my back which took nearly 3 hours...ouch!
I would say a great idea at the time, but not so good when you hit 60 laying on a beach somewhere. A lot of Europeans dont do tattoos, and when I go abroad the looks I get. :shock: Not being stereo typical here, but they tend to think people with tattoos are either thugs, or English football louts. :lol:
Its everyones choice but.....remember a tattoo may be great now but will you still like the design in ten years time? Take your time when choosing one as it lasts forever. Show us all a pic if she gets it done.

Of course it is HER body but...nothing wrong with asking your partners opinion. If he is that much against it he would no doubt not force her into not having one but, she may then want to reconsider. Nothing wrong in that i feel. :lol:

can I hyjack with a pircing question, seeing as we're discussing mutilation... in a good way of course
(i have a tatt too, before I appear.. errm... something...)
so... piercing, whilst considering another tattoo for myself, Im also considering a piercing.
Now then... has anyone, or do you know anyone who has a ring or bar through the flesh of thier neck... I guess the place would be just below the adam's apple... I like that idea.

I have mine on my back.. but not like most at the base in the middle.. mine's over to one side and I'm going to get something added to it to take it a bit further down onto my bum... cool

Although I don't yet have a tattoo myself. I think tattoos are awesome pieces of body art. The advice I've heard elsewhere is get your tattoo done by a reputable artist / studio.

Hi guys a big welcome to the Forum!!! biggrin

Firstly, I think tattoos are fantastic, I have a full arm piece which is very,very eye catching and gets lots of attention and people ask me about it all the time.
The best bit of advice I can give after spending 26 hours under the needle is to be absolutely sure its the exact tattoo you(the person getting tattooed obviously) wants. I chose something very symbolic to my beliefs and outlook on life and I suggest something like this. A favourite animal, a cultural tattoo such as Chinese symbol or Japanese piece etc, something you aren't going to change your mind about as its on for life (as you know).
Really research what you (or in this case she) wants, I have added a link to a fantastic website with thousands of ideas. Remember it is HER body being tattooed though, so don't be influencing her decision, even though it's always tempting, as, in the unlikely but possible event that you split up etc, she doesn't want to be going around with a tattoo you chose that she just went along with, people and circumstances change, tattoo's dont!!

Hi there
Of course its up to the individual. What floats someones boat, sinks anothers.
I hate tatoos and neither myself or my hubby have any. I would never choose to have one and know I never will.
Piercings though, I think these are really sexy. I particularly like eyebrow piercings on men and nipple piercings on women.
