Hi,
Much as I am loathe to offer advice without full knowledge of the problem, for starters I would download and run Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, you may need to do this on another computer (onto a USB stick or disc) and then install and run on the infected machine. Be sure to download the free version, here and here is a youtube guide on how to use it
This may also be of help to you
Good luck.
be very wary of that pop-up.
it sounds familiar.
it could well have been that or something similar that was responcible for the ultimate demise of my last lappy.

Thanks guys i will try the above suggestions first and see if that works.
Thanks again xxxx
Have had a few infected puters to repair where people have been conned into clicking on the fake anti virus warning. Its all just to get you to click and download the latest piece of spyware.
Malware bytes is a good idea and also spybot search and destroy. Also update and scan with your anti virus if it will let you. The nastier ones stop you doing all that tho.
Mostly I try and salvage a persons photos etc then just wipe the pc and start again.
You do need to download the spyware software on another pc and run it from a stick on the infected one.
Have seen ones that wont even let you do that tho.
If you do online banking my advice would be to start again wipe the pc just to be safe.
Keyloggers are something you dont want on your puter......

Highly recommend SuperAntiSpyware
Portable version available here
Although what you described in you’re opening post is common and a system restore would normally sort that.
