techie help please

My computer keeps disconnecting from the internet. I have BT broadband and I have tried everything I can think of to sort it out but nothing is working. Can anyone offer any advice. Please answer in simple language as I am not very clever with computers rolleyes

I know its a pain in the arse.
Are you PC or Apple Macintosh based?
Try going through the following list:
1. Has it only just started to do it? If so it could be a newly installed software related problem.
2. have you spoken to BT about the problem? Sometimes the ADSL line will drop, or appear to drop, rebooting your PC or Mac will reconnect it or you could have a phone line or exchnge problem.
3. How are you connected to the ADSL? Do you have a Router, are you wireless? or did BT install a box that you plug your cable into?
Try to post a little more info if you can as these are the things I would go for first, but its very difficult or near enough impossible to diagnose somebody elses system.
Hope it has given you a couple of things to try.

to add to excellent advice above, call the BT suport line and listen to the message of the day to see if there are any known exchange side issues, before you pull your PC to bits ;)
