Weve just bought a brand spanking new gorgeous a media center pc and i was really looking forward to getting it set up to the Sky box to use as a recording device (yes i'm excited about things like that). After following the instructions on how to link it up it didnt work  .Much fecking about followed and finally i bit the bullet and phoned the store i got it from to find that at the moment you can't link up a pc to Sky.
Now ive had a look around the internet and i'm sure that it is possible but not in the way that Microsoft please does anyone know how this is possible??Ive got an S-video,TV in and white, red and yellow atachments on the TV card on the Sky box had two output please can someone help me???
Much appreciation would follow any advice on this matter.
Hi steve, how about a scart to Video / audio sockets lead? Then you should be able to feed whatever the sky box is looking at to the media PC like any other composite video?
You wont be able to use the PC to decode Sky, you still need your sky box for that, or to change channel, but you should be able to at least see / record it with your PVR software.
Not something I've done but I find useful. Good luck.
Hi
I used to get TV on the pc, till i lost the drivers for the capture card, (so if anyone knows how to get AverTV DVB-T 771 going I'll love u forever)
I had to run the skybox thru the vcr, then connect the vcr to the tv input on the puter

Is it all sorted yet?
I am dying to say "Why not just point the webcam at the TV to record it?'
But not until al the scary techy stuff is over. :uhoh:

No probs mate.
Let me know what connections you've got when the lead arrives and we'll have a go at the record side of things.
Welcome to the revolution mate
Chris.
By the way I think it is actually possible to change the channel on the sky box with an IR repeater I remember reading about it at some point but as we dont have sky never bothered looking further into it.
