The new version of Firefox should be released sometime later today...... for those wanting to try it.
ok so ive loaded firefox and it seems quicker with the rotflmao and the smilieys don't need refreshing after i click one which is a bonus !
Now not being a computer person can someone tell me how to transfer all the additional stuff that appears in tool bar over to firefox please.

thanxs for the tip to download firefox, just done it and will test drive it for a while but so far so good.
did someone say it stops a lot of spyware

Assuming that the cut-down Firefox works in much the same way as the "proper" Mozilla browser, then it won't stop spyware, but you can set it to kill those interminable pop-up windows that so many sites use to advertise. Of course, if there is a site that uses a pop-up window for something that it perceives as useful, then that will get blocked too. (But, in my opinion, stuff 'em, since pop-ups are the work of the Devil and people that code them should have atrocities committed upon them...!)
Spyware is not a browser specific thing normally, but a tiny little program that gets running and stays resident in memory, reporting back to its source various details, mainly about browser. Spyware is written to report from IE, but I presume some can interpret the actions of other browsers too.
Although it won't stop pre-existing spyware, unless you turn it off it will bitch about any site that tries to start downloads, no danger of the 'I don't remember downloading that confused ' scenario that can come from IE. It also lets you know if it's blocking pop-ups (a little x appears in the bottom left) and you choose to allow them smile
Midlandsman - can you expand a bit on what you'd like to see in the tool bar ?
Actually, it is immume to a lot of directx and IE specific buffer overflow exploits!
The main plus for me is ad blocking, right-click on an advert and you can tell firefox to never accept any images from that server. Once you've blocked the top dozen or so worst ad servers, then the web becomes a nich nicer place to be!
Firefox AdBlocker Extension will let you nuke most of the things that blocking images leaves untouched.
Available from
Today is about the worst possible day to try and get Firefox, since version 1.0 just got launched to a massive fanfair of publicity and the servers are buckling under the strain.
Come back in a few days if you are having problems downloading!
If the phrase "slashdot has links to torrents" means something to you, then slashdot has links to torrents for you smile
...and if it doesn't, the European mirror's not /.ed yet

Warning - many of your extensions will die and the update server's Farked too sad

OK, if you mean third party toolbars, I'm afraid there's no way to transfer them over as they're not compatible with Firefox. The good news is you don't want them anyway as most of them are riddled with spyware.
