Hiya anyone who can help me confused

Last night we had a window pop up which said we had some infected files on it and to click to find out how to remove them. Obviously (we have now assumed) the ok button was the trigger for lots of lovely pop ups to appear. We then had a Norton warning alert, a startup trojan which it couldn't repair and so we quarantined it. I t does this every time we try to open IE and we then get a RUNDLL message, saying that the files doesn't exist. Since we did that, we do not have msn as our default homepage, which it was before. Have tried to reset the homepage via tools option but the page always reverts back to 'about:blank' We can access msn by a couple of clicks but then when we try to open , it fleetingly opens, then reverts to 'about:blank' page.
Absolutely stuck now, no idea what to do :cry:

Ello hun, i had the same problem a few months back with my homepage , it turned out to be spyware, have you got a anti spyware program installed. if not there are free basic ones or trial ones on Hope this helps

I find these clear all my problems up and they are both free.

Download and run . It pulls together functions that are in a lot of other programs and has the ability to reset browser hijacks and lots of other clever stuff. It's so good that Microsoft actually bought it from the parent company (Giant) and re-branded it as their own. At the moment it's only available as a free beta version but it should do what you need. Let me know if you have any quezzies.

I can't download anything, every time I open another page (anything help based or ), it instantly reverts to 'about:blank' No probs opening SH tho
Do i have to reformat?

Don't use InternetExploiter smile

use opera instead much better with no popups ;) and it's faster than IE

If you can get onto the internet download either Spybot or pest patrol
this should get rid of about blank page
you will need to delet all cookies all temp internet files and any temp files you may need to delet some stuff from your registry also
spy bot should remove it however you need to down load and install it first smile

Good luck took me about a month to get it off my system however spybot worked for me

Flashheart is right a stinger has been written for it . Thats the only ready made software that works for thst one that we know of . Otherwise it registry by hand which is scary :-)

Right, it opened adaware and stinger sites so will get Chris to try them tomorrow when I don't need the pc. Thanks for the suggestions folks and keep everything crossed for me
