Can't say I've ever gone shopping at that time of night - I'm always curled up fast asleep beneath my covers. smile I've popped around 11pm or 12am a few times, and it's certainly a change from the hectic daytime shopping - even if you do have to run the gamut of an army of kids restocking the shelves.
Now, why can't they make trollies that push in a straight line?

We can send man to the moon (allegedly) to the depths of the ocean and fly around the world if we like, but no-one seems to be able to do that particular task Roger .......
not asming much really is it dunno
I've done it at our local Asda before. Discovered the perks after nipping out for medicine for the kids one night. It was great over the Christmas period for those forgotten things on the list. Down side is, they're still stocking shelves so you may not always get what you'd hope to get. I've now discovered online shopping. No more queues or heavy bags anymore!

I think these 24 hour stores are a good idea. One of my friends certainly thinks so. When she was a student she didn't have a washing machine, and being a student she didn't bother going to the laudrette until she had no clothes at all that were clean. Anyways, she was doing her washing one evening and she nipped out of the laudrette to go and get a bite to eat. When she came back her washer had finished and all her clothes were gone and there was no sign of the thief    . She had no underwear whatsoever except what was in that washing machine. Being a shy, retiring type she suddenly felt naked........
.....The 24 hour tesco saved her modesty and she is still wearing what she bought that night..... (well, she might be, knowing her rolleyes wink )

I do my shop at our local asda's at 4 am every friday morning back home for 5 and back in bed by alarm goes off at 7.
I have once shopped in Tesco at 2am in the morning as I woke up with an acute bout of cystitis and needed some on the shelf medication quickly.
The only drawback I can envisage to late night shopping trips is a personal safety issue.
It'll be packed now people will go there to do there shopping because you said it was quiet and It will be quiet in the day you have changed the way of the world what have you done
Life as we know it will never be the same again

I used to live backing on to one of them. They're an excellent idea if you don't go to bed early, you can shop entirely without screaming kids and elderly women trying to pay in farthings in front of you in the queue ;)
Disadvantages, safety might be one, but I can't see that it's any worse than coming back from the pub, for example. The only other problem is that there are usually no discounts and perishables can be a bit thin on the ground.

My only disappointment was that the Makeup dept had the shutters down over the shelves of products and I found this rather strange. Please, can anyone who works at Tesco explain why this is.
Judy

Doesnt make sense all those ladies who could be doing with some spare makeup after a night on the tiles but then if youre that pissed you wouldnt care!!
Seems strange that they dont sell make up at this time?? I wonder if the still sell alcohol and if so do they have a cut off time at night or morning? They have one to start selling it on a sunday!!
Never been shopping anywhere in the middle of the night (id be too stoned and only buy shit!) But tesco online shopping I have found is fanbloodytastic! biggrin

I'm quite a regular late nighter (what can I say, I'm always up) and I've never encoutered anything unjust. Personnally I think it is worse during the day when all the little sods who have nothing better to do are just hanging out outside asking for some cider.
They have security during the night as you may, once in a blue moon, get an overly drunk person, clubber, sod who wants to start something just because.
One draw back I have noticed is the, no serving of booze. You HAVE to do that during the day. sad The make-up which has its shutters down I can only think will be to discourage petty theft. Unless they saw you comming and didn't want you to buy the whole lot before anybody else has a chance.
Another thing if you like them that is. Hot deli food. I love to get a hot BBQ chicken or a rack of ribs before I go to work. Yummy. Fresh bread too. Although the shelves will be stacked full of the bread from the warehouse anyway.
I like the 24/7 culture. Some say it makes life more stressful but I think it takes the worry out of things. I just wish shops stayed open on Sundays too.
I always shop in the middle of the night... you can do it so much quicker. But you have to pick the time of the evening... the wrong time and there is nothing left on the shelves... bread especialy goes quickly. Once you work out the restock times of your local supermarket you can have fresh bread and zero queues... plus they usualy play nice music on the PA.

hehe never to late to start a new trend there Satin ;)
We've done it a few times at Xmas just to avoid the rush, only problem they won't sell booze before drinkies
what shagging in tesco!! Bet that cleared the aisles!! :P lol
There's some good dogging to be had ion the car park at night !!!!!!!!!!!
hehe nice one Judy!!
Could do a Tranny dash instead of a trolly dash!! biggrin
the only time i use my all night tesco is on the way home from partners... when i have a night of sex, for some reason i always get a craving for ice cream.. and tescos sorts me out.
wont tell u the amount of guys who have called me a week later complaining that they have just found a melted tub of ice cream left soaing into their back seats! rolleyes
I love going shopping late at night and have been a few times after going to cinema as Asda not too far from it. Always very safe at that time as well lit and you aprk right outside of the doors. You even have time to talk to real people as well at that time of night in there.
By 3 am my Tesco's is almost out of fresh fruit and veg.
One big reason for me going to Tesco's is when I arrange to meet up with someone and by 3 am the young male shop assistants have more of a chance to get away from me, so I can not see so many bending over.

Perhaps if you approached the young male shop assistants from one direction, and I approached them from the other we could stop them escaping!!

I've worked some bloody long and weird shift times in my career, so the advent of 24-hr supermarkets was fluckin fantastic - it meant that I could still pick up shopping on the way home, despite working godawful hours and so at least I didn't have to crawl out of bed the following day to go and buy essentials. cool
It's soooooooooooooooo peaceful in there in the wee hours too! Just a shame the booze sections have to close evil as there have been a few times I've driven home after a hellish shift thinking "I could really do with a beer when I get in..." but knowing that the house was dry! rolleyes

Now that sounds like fun and if we get them cornered, it would be fun to see how far we could get away with going with them between us.

There is a quiet part of the store near the drinks section so if you want to give it a try then I will go with it wink .
Please can we use the Tesco in Chorley as I don't want to get barred from my local one in Leyland :P . Do you want me to sit in the trolley or lean against the wine section? If you want to do it in the wine section, do you want to face the wine or have your back to-wards it?
You can get most things in Tesco now including grab a Tranny.
Judy
Judy you have a fucked up way of doing the shopping... but if you want me to pick your wine up using my arse cheaks... I might just oblige ;)

My husband (soon to be officially ex - just put in for my decree absolute) lives in Swindon and works in a car plant, he therefore works late shift every other week and finds the 24hr Tescos great. The hot deli sell off everything well cheap, he says.
I've been doing online shopping for as long as Tesco have, and it's the best. Spesh now I live miles from a supermarket. First started to use it when only had a motorcycle, so had to taxi to the store and back, even when I lived in Swindon, the store was only about 2 miles away, the taxi fare was more than the delivery charge for the online shopping.
It is a great help to disabled people and people in rural locations. I would be shafted if I could not buy everything via the net. Amazon cater for my books, DVDs vids etc, clothing from just about anywhere, alcohol - tesco or virgin wine, Reese gets his mushrooms from an online supplier, too. I love the 21st century.

Judy TV, just a little bit of info for you, Chorley Tesco has over 80 cctv cameras that are recording 24/7 so be careful if you go playing in there.
Horwich Tesco has over 200 cctv cameras in it, again all recording 24/7.
Chorley carpark may be a better idea or even try Blackpool Tesco as it has just been revamped and not yet have its full complement of cctv cameras fitted.......

I work nights and used to shop at Tesco in Leytonstone. I think its the best time to shop especially between 4am and 6am. The shelves are stacked by then. I also had my first 'carpark action' there. It was quick but exciting...
