..................... for pointing out to me a dodgy post. We can't be everywhere, so we do appreciate you being our eyes for us.
And Jiggle, everyone wasn't having a go at them. It was an advert which is against the AUP.
Thank you all!

i looked into the AUP after, and i will accept that i was wrong and the thread should not of been posted.
the only thing that is upseting me at the moment is all this "shoot the newbie". if i was coming on to this site for the first time i would be scared to post, in the fear that i would either make a mistake, or upset someone and get hounded for it!.
end of the day, people do genuinly make mistakes, fair enough there are some of the chancers that break the rules on purpose.
and to be fair.. who actually read the AUP when they first join, casue i know i never did. and to a newbie what does AUP stand for!..
i just feel some replys to threads could be done in a more polite manner. some can be genuinly hurtful.
people come on this site for all for very different reasons, and some use it as an escape. others use it just to meet up, or chat. and some can be very sensitive and simple word can be very hurting and have a huge inpact on someone.
i know i'm waffling but another thing. regulars forget that they know this site inside out, and know what posts have been done in the past. someone new coming onto the site has not got this knowledge. so they not know about the search fuction (plus remember not everone is an expert on Web Browsing) are gonna post thinks that could have been repeated.
anyway i'm gonna shut up cause otherwise i'm gonna find myself inthe stocks

Not thick mate. It took me 6 months to find that bloody link.
Think they'd put flashing lights round it or summat. rolleyes :P lol
I thought AUP was a Yorkshire greeting! redface
I'll get me coat! bolt
Prefer the term newbie bating lol Why is everyone so precious about newbies at the moment. Bit of banter and joking is part of the forum surely. Depends how a newbie reacts to the banter. Have seen loads take it on the chin and give as good back and also seen loads of apologies if folks have got it wrong. Jeeezzzz chill out wink

Why? Don't you want fresh blood? If you don't get freshened up from time to time you get stagnant non? biggrin

well, I did, and even though I followed it to the letter I had threads deleted confused: they were not rude or arsy or whatever you want to call it but things like that can scare newbies off... (am still not scared though :D)
What I find weird is that "oldies" get away with starting silly threads like "what colour is your urine" and the oldies go ohhh wow you're so funny heehee haahaa etc. I'm sure a newbie would get bashed to pieces if they started one like that sad
Also when does a newbie cease to be a newbie? Is there a rule, time limit etc?
If the huge number of newbies joining cause oldies so much consternation maybe there should be a small charge to join the board? Maybe that way we/you could weed out the trolls from the genuine newbies who really wnat to join the SH community?

Well I include myself as a newbie and fully expect to have both negative and positive responses to any threads or posts I reply to. That is what happens when someone opens a debate and if some folks think it is crap then they are entitled to state that in an OPEN forum. If all the "fresh blood" were so precious, this forum would have died a long time ago, through utter boredom. Takes all sorts to make the world go around kiss

Apology accepted Jiggle. Wasn't newbie-bashing - was dodgy-bastard-bashing.

P.S. One of the reason established SH members on here relish newbie-bashing is because if a newbie isn't trained correctly they CAN turn into trolls or even worse moderators  . Which is why I fully endorse the Newbie-Mentor scheme.

TRAINED! ffs........
sorry but that is very patronising!
