Without doubt for me it was "the Sweeney" Without doubt my favourite. Ok racing around in a Ford Granada shouting "your knicked my son" Maybe a little corny now but What a programme at the time. What was your favourite?
Saying that, Of course I onlyb remember the repeats redface

Sgt Phil Esterhaus ...oh how we missed him when the big guy passed away.
Got to agree with you Swcpl ...so many wonderful characters in HSB ...remember little Belker and the swat guy I cant recall his name now.
The first series of a cop internal investigation dept called Between the Lines had promise too but alas it fell away on subsequent series.
Dont think it was primarily a cop programme but The Edge of Darknes was gripping viewing.
For me, HSB set the tone for a lot of the police series we see today, it was years ahead of its time.
Edge of Darkness was 100% class too, UK TV at its finest.
How about Operation Good Guys from a couple of years back? The desert island special or the minorities awareness training were just brilliant
The A Team
Does that class as a Cop series?? they were always investigating something cool

"the Sweeney"

The sweeney was great John Thaw as Jack Regan one of Britain greatest actors. And Dennis Waterman as George Carter.
But I also remember Z cars and Dixon of Dock Green!
I cant be the old surely!
NYPD blue.
The cops(set in a northern british town).
Morse without a doubt!
More recently Life on Mars/Ashes to Ashes though not mainstream cop shows biggrin
Kojak was my fave as a child - I thought Telly Savalas was such a lovely person in real life, and later when I watch repeats - bewilderingly attractive!
Also, as a real blast from the past - Dixon of Dock Green. What I consider to be the last, and best portrayal of "proper coppers".
Slurpy xx
Maigret
If only for the lovely old black Citroen
bolt
Starsky and Hutch
TJ Hooker (only becase Capt Kirk was in it)
The Sweeney
Chips
Cold Case
Touch of Frost
Technically Jack Bauer is a kind of COP in 24..lol
"There is no use in crying over spilled milk, unless it was Jack Bauer's milk. Oh, then you are so screwed."
Anyine else pissed off with the writers strike cancelling the show until 2009???
Can we stretch it a little and add private dick programmes?
Moonlighting.
I had such a teenage crush on Bruce Willis redface
That slightly arrogant, conceited cocky smile used to get me quite moist.surprisedops:
columbo

They really did make classic crap back then lol
NCIS
Third watch (stictly not just the cops but still very good)
Law and order
Hawaii five o
Magnum (ok a pi but still a LEO)
Due South
The X files
Millenium

The sheild
The Wire
Spooks
I really need to get a life redface
I liked officer Dibble in Top Cat redface
