The inaugural meeting of the Norwich Book Club took place this evening against a backdrop of extreme weather.
Apologies were read for Finns (unfortunate shift change), Rogerthedragon (again, the demands of work) and HarryJones (but boy did he try hard!)
My heartfelt thanks go to Flapjackboy, Marathon5, Herandhim and, of course, Poohbear and friends for coming and I know we all had a lovely time. There was a remarkable amount of discussion about books too!
I won't attribute books to bringers but they were :
'Midnight's Children'
'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime'
'Wayward Women (A guide to Women Travellers)'
'Between Males'
'Something Dangerous'
'Scandalous Risks'.
Draw your own conclusions guys. What would YOUR appropriate book be?
The more observant amongst you will have noted the low turn-out and given that I had about 30 intending to come it was a tad disappointing. Their loss, of course, but they need to know I reluctantly turned people away once I thought there were enough coming. Shame. I won't next time.
But to those non-attenders who were just too worried or shy to show - "Please come next time. We are all lovely, genuine people who had an enjoyable chat over a pint in a pub. I SWEAR nobody passing by would have guessed we were other than a genuine book club. You single girls would have felt totally safe. I did."
So the next meeting will be in about a month's time. Unless, of course, those of us who have just met decide we can have enough fun without the rest of you!!!!!!
Jezzay.
PS.
Pins! We want Swinging Heaven pins please.
