Love The Clash
Actually Greenday remind me a little of them - Hope thats not blasphemy for some lol
the Clash?
Yes, listenable, though I have to admit I much prefered to have two record players on simultaneously.
One playing Lee "Scratch" Perry, and the other playing a little Crass.
Hardcore, you know the score SPACIOUSSSS!
lp
Another ex punk here too :bounce: pogos! More of a Ramones fan, heady days, leather jackets, the Hammersmith Palais, and my lust for Siouxsie Sioux lol

Chatted to her at the hairdressers in South Molton Street once - was very, very starstruck!

there are 3 bands/musicians that are the soundtrack of my life.
the clash, morrissey, nick cave.
i count myself very lucky having been a 13/14 year old schoolboy in camden in 1977/8. i missed the first year or so of punk but got in to it early enough to enjoy it. also by the second album probably and definately by london calling the clash were not a punk band. ffs sandanista is more dub/disco! musically they were london's golden years.
we used to hang out outside the studio that the clash were recording in and joe would often come out and chat with us. when they were playing locally and the bouncers wouldnt let us in because we were too young joe would come and open the fire exits for us to rush in.
i got to know joe quiet well professionally and them personally from around 88 until he died and right up to the end i would always make a total cock of myself by acting like a start struck fan.
bumbed in to mick jones in camden a couple of months ago after a gig he did with billy bragg and wayne kramer in camden. incredibly chatting to him i felt liek a 14 year old still!
one of my most prized possessions is teh original vynal london calling signed by paul.
so yes, massive clash fan here.
this is what i call a feelgood thread.

oooo get you :giggle:
actually with that story you could turn out to be a good friend of mine although that said maybe not my friend is a fab bloke lol he too was good friends with joe and his circle of friends include so many old punks its wonderfull for me as i live my life vicariously through him, he gets us on guest lists for gigs like the buzzcocks and to say i was like a star struck teen when drinking with them after is an understatement hubby was taking the mick out of me for weeks after cause i forgot to pick up my fags n jacket as we left as i was lookin googly eyed at them constantly blink in fact only last weekend he had 2 member of the damned staying with him as they were supporting my friends sons band i was gutted hubby was feeling rough so we didn't get to go and meet them
i won't pretend to know all the names he drops just to see the look of an excited puppy on my face but i do know most of them and i'm mostly looking forward to the day he has john lydon over cause if i have to crawl over broken glass to be there i will be worship

Shit i wanna be you... i would have loved to meet Joe ( jealous ) Altho they were a punk band even at London Calling. As joe him self said. '' Is'ent punk ment to be about what you wanna do not what people say you should do'' You dont get more punk than that
"If Adolf Hitler flew in today, they'd send a limousine anyway"
LEGENDARY
Went to see Carbon/silicon it is Mick Jones and Tony James....it was a good gig the only problem was not alot of people turned up for it.
As regards a previous post on this thread Green Day are as about as close to The Clash as you can get live.
I went to see Pil on the last tour they did and had a god night, Lydon is a great front man
