is it just me or am i the only person on here that really enjoys watching the contender??? i have watched it all the way through......i love boxing.......well not my self but watching it, you know like all the rocky's (i know its not rea!!!l) lol

but its something im really into.
has anybody else been watching this? or am i the only sad one????

What more reality do you need than SH :shock:
Some are ok if the theme is new/interesting but most are drivel IMHO. Not seen Contender btw :P

i agree they are good i dont think its a reality programme its more a kinda.......well i suppose it is but not like big brother i hate that!!!!!!!!!!!!! it is very good and tonight is the semi finals!!!!! but its a hard fight tonight gomez or manfredo??? confused

who do i cheer on???? :? i dont know its all so stressfull !

it is the first semi final....manfrado have just beaten gomez.... to be honest i think that was a bit controversial.....i have that one as even..... 3 rounds apiece and 1 draw....

Oh for sure!.. The contender!!.. American cheese but at the same time its so good to watch. Decent fighters too!. Thats when they arent blowing their own brains out with shotguns

I absolutley love it...i wont miss it for the world... it has to be the best series i have seen ever... why its not on ITV 1 in place on celebrety whatever i dont know.
Peter Manfredo Jr is the absolute dog bollox.

dont agree with you ,as boxing is not like this in real life
its dirty smelly gyms
early morning runs
high rejection /failure rates
very few make it and many get badly injured along the way
think contenders is a bit to glam

Abit glam!!! have you actually watched it? there going through mental and physical torcher, this is the most geniune real life series i have ever seen... if you have watched the programme you would see that they actually do early morning/late night runs 7-10 miles a day... !!...these boy are super fit... there boxing now for seven rounds

At last i've found someone that knows about the contender. Watched it last night and was sorry to see Alfonso go out. But what a classy guy he was (is) . Only thing i dont like about the show is the way they have the fighters children in the front row. Last week young kids were there to see their dad getting knocked out..made me feel a bit unesay.

apparently in the final one of the "finnalists" kids are in a right state!!!
and in regards to the boxing n that sxyboy........... i find alsorts of fighting good ie ju jitsu, its something that interests me, i used to live next door to a boxer not that any of you have heard of him...nevile brown and i know the training he used to do, the hours he spent on the garden with his punch bag, the early morning runs i think its good learning how to fight calmly and properly, not because im violent but because you never know when you might need it.

fantastic show in my opinion, last fight i saw was fantastic and coming from a boxing family i enjoy it even more, you really feel for some of the contenders that have been knocked out of the show, and it was sad when the one fighter took his own life after losing sad

but overall i hope to see a lot more of some of the fighters in the future as these guys actually put up a good show in the ring, i wonder if audley harrelson is taking notes on how to box worthy opponents rather than amateur has beens :lol:

i wasnt sure wether he took his own life or was killed i can remember watching that fight and at the end it said rest in peace gowd it was sooooo sad made me go all is a class programme better than bloody celebrity love island, big brother or the farm!!!!

its a tv show mate, all these fighters have come from the sweaty gyms you talk about and have put up with the high rejection and failure rate, they have been giving a shot that many boxers would kill for doesnt matter if they film it in a palace or a shit tip the training is still gruelling, but these boys are getting a shot at glory and i dont know many boxers that wouldnt want that, and having a few cousins & uncles who have been boxing for years and one turned pro i know what im talking about wink
