I'm showing my age here but mine was Slade - Merry Xmas. Ahem !it was the first year it came out and I can remember pleading with my mum for the 32p it cost. I can remember telling her it was in the hit parade so it had to be good lol. I think I can trace my slide into depravation right there lol.
My first single, that I bought with my own pocket money, was No Matter What by Badfinger. I still think it's a great song.
Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep = when I was about 8 - 48p from Spillers - the greatest record shop on earth!

The first single I bought was 'Blue Monday' by New Order on 12", but it wasn't even for me. It was a birthday present for my sister. I think the first one I bought for myself was 'Thriller' by MJ and only for the narrative by Vincent Price at the end. The first album I bought was 'Prince Charming' by Adam and the Ants. redface

Tiger feet by mud, cost me twelve and a half pence ... suzie quatro and slade were others, my 1st LP was a slade one
"I've got a brand new combine harvester" by the Wurzels.
I left it on the top of the (DER rented, coin in the slot) TV and it got too hot and it warped.
