We went to a friends nephew's 30th b'day party last night. We only knew her and kind of her mum and 1 brother. Was a good night in Cockfosters in a pub (in the private section, Invite only). Took us ages to walk to the flaming place from the tube but it looked quite nice.
Anyway about 2 ish our friend says shall we make a move and we all agree. We come out and start walking back grabbing a take-away on the way back. We get to the tube (having not looking the times up first cos her daughter said they ran till 3 am) and they are all closed. At this point we are miles away from where we need to be and we are approached by a bloke saying he has a cab round the corner.
We walk round and see his car but alarm bells didnt ring straight away as he gave hubby his Hackney No. and cab number and which firm he was with. So we all jump in (Him saying that it would cost us £15)
We start driving and its taking ages....he takes us to a "Cockfosters Pub" not the Cockfosters Tube) So we tell him where he roughtly needs to be.
At this point Steve and "Cab Driver" are arguing and we nearly get dropped off as we at this point know not only is he fake...but also a possible danger!
We eventually get there a further 40 mins from when we started off. Steve then had a word with the driver saying that he knew he was a fake and he will get caught (sitting in my friends car we get his licence no. )
It was a nightmare...never been so scared in all my life...Boy it's good to get home eventho we got home 3 hours later than we thought confused
Anyone got the number for the MET lol
Dont want that happening to anyone else. Me and my friend nearly went alone that night so god knows what would have happend.....
Hugs to you ....
It would have freaked me out big time. Hubby is a London lad and looking back a few years when we went to Ministry of Sound and got a cab back, I don't think it was Kosher now.
I'm too naive to realise these things at the time and we luckily never went round the houses (hubby drives in London and so would be wise to it).
Glad you're all safe :therethere:
Forgot to mention that he was speeding too and he got a ticket !!! but that was his own fault and we were'nt paying !!
Oh and my poor ikkle feet were killing so there was no way we coulf get out and run... rolleyes
Ta Calista... I needed a stiff drink when i got home confused
i know there is a lot of that happening in east london, where i use to live.... if you still have the license plate number then go to the police and report it....
i have heard of women being attacked in cars by people "pretending" to be cab drivers....
if you can take one person off the streets then it is one person who isn't a danger to everyone else...

I bet you did ... I'd still be searching for the valium myself!
Sorry to hear that you had a bad night, sounds, like you handled it pretty well though.
:therethere: At least your safe and well at home now,
Clare,xxx
wink
Yup Sean i still got his licence plate and i WILL report him. He is a danger on the roads and to people. If he had crashed he wasnt insured and the affect would have been deverstating. I'm sooooo mad with myself for not questioning the "no Hackney licence" on the back etc. When he was told to turn his two-way radio on...he didnt have a clue and turned his normal radio on...that when we got worried... Oh well lesson learned and never never again ! I look back and keep thinking... "What if...." Never mind, We live to tell another tale.
Oh what an awlful night!!
We are only 20 mins from Cockfosters could have come and crashed here wink
Oh well, just glad u got home safely in the end. :rose:
Oh bugger...now ya tell us lol. Dont know wot kind of state we would have got there in tho  Would have been a better end to a bad night tho smile

Pretty scary, Tigger and Steve. I'm another one who is glad to know that you escaped unharmed...
Mike.
This is pretty scarey stuff.
I remember once my sister and her friends after a night out got into a "taxi" together. My sister was the second to last girl to be dropped off. The driver then tried attacking the 1 girl that was left. Thankfully she managed to escape unhurt. Well unhurt physically of course. It left a few mental scars I am sure mad
