I'm off up to Newcastle at the end of September to take part in the Great North Run. Having not spent anytime up there I was wondering where the decent pubs etc are as I will be going out on the Toon afterwards to celebrate.
Any suggestions will be appreciated
many many places to have a good night out in newcastle...there's the bigg market..where most people seem to go(but has/had a reputation for trouble, never been for years but a good night)..there's the gate where all the pubs/restaurants are indoors, and there's a cinema in there aswell...there's also the pink triangle which is the gay area of newcastle near the train station we've been there a few times and there has been 4 socials there from the north east chatroom, never seen any trouble there.
hope thats of some help.
Thanks very much that is a help. Not sure whether I will be able to enjoy a good night out having run 13 miles but I'll give it a go
Good luck with the run Spongebob smile :)
yup good luck.
hope it all goes well for you.
Good luck Spongebob biggrin
I did this race in October 2006, it was a fabulous day, and a day I shall remember for a long time to come! It has put a smile on my face just reading this thread!
I did not drink afterwards as I came home, so I can't help you out! But remember to still take on the water after the race if you are going to drink a wee drum or two!
Plus a little foot note ....its more of an up hill road race in the first few miles than most would say, so take it easy at the beginning! (although you maybe a season running and already know this)!
Come ran or shine I hope you have a brilliant day, good luck!
Good luck with the run Spongebob....have a real fun time, and enjoy the socialising afterwards. lol

Have to be honest I am far from a seasoned runner. Only agreed to do it as part of a drunken bet and with me doing some great work for charity I have to prove the doubters wrong and earn some money for 2 deserving causes
Well I have returned from Newcastle, slightly stiff and slightly sore (And not in a good way) but managed to complete the course and raise over £500 for charity.
Despite the pain it was a lot of fun and I think I might even do it again next year
Well done !!!!!!!!!!
Well done!
top grade Spongie!!!!
though did I see a lot of your little cousins discarded by the wayside with all the water bottles?
the horror!
