I would be interested to know if you knew that every time you log in your adverts even if they are old are reposted automatically.
Did you receive the below notification as I didnt ??
"System Notice: Please note that your adverts will now automatically update when you log into your account."
This should explain the increase in advert activity that you have seen. If you don't want your adverts to update, we would recommend removing them.
Thanks
Benq
I haven`t seen that :confused2:
And what's wrong with that?
encourages those that have ads to keep them up to date and interesting.
encourages those that no longer wish to have ads to remove them and let the others in - so to speak.
If you can't be bothered to do either then perhaps your on the wrong site anyway? After all - as has been said many times "you only get out of the site what you put in", and so a bit of effort one way or the other can be rewarded appropriately.
Have to say it does not bother me though I never got a notification and it would have been nice to know. Admin can you confirm/deny this? Also is this just for ads that were deemed active? Not sure whats going on with mine now  Best look to see if they are up to date.
Erm doesn't this mean that we're just going to get old adverts rolling over and over?
Why will it encourage people to update them? Most will just ignore them and let them roll over and over and over again.
Wondered why the amount of adverts seemed to have jumped in the last few days...
All those expired adds on profiles that haven't been deleted are now going to re-activate!
Just had a nose at the adds out of interest...
*Wanted... Fun on the 8th of December* ??
and
*6th March fun..???*
Somehow can't see this new system working in favor of genuine people looking for meets.
Just going to be loads of out dated rubbish.
*EDIT*
Ok having looked further this is going to wreck the whole advert system...
I cant see the sense in this change, it wasnt an much of an inconvenience to press 'update'.
Like others have said its just going to stir up the pot so the real active ads are mixed with the necroshit
TBH I don't know why or when this was implemented, but I'd guess it may be in response to all the moans about ads showing up in searches when people haven't used the site in months. At least this way now you can tweak your search to show recently active people at the top.
Trouble with that is recently logged in does not mean genuine, active, swingers.
Surely it would be better to go the opposite way and have an advert de-activate after a month so the user has to actively re-activate it. Also don't force everyone that joins to place an advert that way atleast we stand a chance of actually finding genuine adverts instead of 'Hey look we have a gazillion adverts on our site!' oh yeah but only 100 are actively looking for meets by the way!
Personally we are not bothered atall about our own adverts. We don't want to read those ones.
It's EVERY advert on any account active or not that's now activated and bumped every time that account is logged in that's the issue.
All we're bothered about is now there's no point in browsing the ads because most of them are a long time out of date. Or belong to people that wrote one advert when they joined to collect pictures or view webcams who have no intention of ever meeting.
Sorry you feel it's an over reaction but heyho we paid for membership to a site to actually try and make contact with other genuine, like minded people and feel this is something that will make that harder to do.
Thanks for your comments and suggestions in this thread.
The advert update on login was implemented with the intention of being beneficial show active members and for members who update their adverts on a regular basis when they log in, but we can now see the problem for those who are looking for meets will see a flock of old adverts appearing in the adverts section.
We've reviewed how the system has worked over the weekend, taken the points on board raised in this thread and via the support ticket system and we have at this point decided to withdraw this function at this stage. We may well re-review this again later stage but for now it's been reverted.
Thanks again,
Admin.
Thanks for all the comments in this thread and special thanks to the Admins and co who took onboard the decision to revert.
I guessing the mods/admin been tweaking again as another load of outdated ads been posted since 4pm.
