Okay - so I'm doing housework tonight    Yip it happens - sometimes! And I am doing the ironing!!!
So I whipped out a pair of socks from the ironing basket (yes I iron my socks redface ) and realised that I bought this particular pair of socks in 1989!!!! Believe it or not they have managed to avoid the washing machine's (well - many washing machines in fact!) best attempts at splitting them like most other pairs I have (I have a drawer full of single socks in the hope that one day the washing machine will cough up the one that it ate). They have NO holes in them and are perfectly okay - but how??? They are almost 16 years old ffs!!!
So come on - who else can admit to still wearing a pair of 16 year old socks!!! ????? confused
16 year old socks
nope but i got a donny osmond t-shirt in the attic thats about 30 years old
I can never find a pair of socks in my house confused
Don't get me wrong....I put a pair of socks in the wash basket and.....that's the last I see of them as a pair as a pair
:?
The only thing I have in my wardrobe thats close on 16 years old is my wedding dress
Dawn :silly:
hell, even my wardrobe aint that old smile

I have a duvet cover which I've had since 1978, does that count?
There are other things which I have had a long time but don't use or wear (or rarely), most notably a hand-knitted fair-isle tank-top (wow, three hyphenated words in a row!)from 1974.
Mike.
I still have some items of uniform that I still wear now and again for gardening, mechanicing - that sort of stuff; that I was issued when I joined the army in . . . . . . . . .

FFS Blue - if you say you can still fit into them I am going to have to inflict pain!! evil
I buy identical socks by the two dozen - flood the market so to speak. It's the only way of increasing the chances of getting a pair back from the wash.
Bows - I wanna be inside your socks when you try and put'em on. Give yer toes a good sucking before .... (oh shit just about to get all blokey then !!!)

There's no way I'd get in the 501s, they were a small size 10, made when jeans were cut to be painfully tight rolleyes . The ones I got when I was 14.. I'd probably squeeze into them but I don't think they'd be comfy.... damn... I'm going to have to go and try them on now just to see

 Is sucking toes blokey? I was going to keep quiet about my fetish because I was worried people would think me weird! redface

My oldest clothing item is my late grandad's demob suit. It's eighteen years older than me, has been relined twice, but apart from that it's original and in mint condition.
The oldest thing of my own that I have is a 20 year old pair of shoes which I wear regularly.
The average life expectancy of my socks is about three months I reckon. confused

Well - all I can say is - the Germans obviously know how to make socks!! :? ('cos that's where I bought this pair) - unlike the Romans - 'cos what have they ever done for us?
