Seems to me that a brigade of sandal wearing leftie liberal do gooders who would find no employment elsewhere have created an environment of fear where the words "You can't say ....." for fear of upsetting some phantasy sub section of society stops people and industries in their tracks. However it goes against the fundamental democratic right of anyone to speak entirely as they please wherever they please. If they offend someone then that is regrettable but that is the price of freedom.
It is very sad when we have reached the stage when a teacher (especially a male one) can't comfort a child with a cuddle for fear of being politically incorrect or even worse 'Assault'!.

PS I called myself 'British / English' in my census form . Got a very curt letter from 'them' saying I couldn't say that. So I wrote back and said if Paddy can call himself 'British / Irish, Jock can call himself British / Scots and Taffy can call himself British / Welsh then I will call myself British / English. Whislt agreeing with the majority of your post, I would have to say that the bit I've quoted is where we difffer. Rather than if "being the price of freedom" - I would say it's crossing the line.
I still say the the majority, if not all "PC offence" is offered and suffered by people claiming to be offended "on behalf of those that ought to be offended"

Perhaps where the Americano coffee comes from? Several coffee chains use this term for black coffee.
