This may have been done before, but what person, living or dead would you most like to have dinner with, and your reasons please.
Mine is Condoleezza Rice, US secretary of state.
She comes from Alabama and has worked her way to the top and I find her very interesting. A good example of starting at the bottom and getting to the top.
Would it be a Cameron Diaz style Last Supper?
Meaty and Bloke biggrin
My all time idol, Steve Yzerman, this guy has played for the same team for 22 years, been at the top of his sport for the whole time, is a perfect gentleman, and bowed out of the game the way it should be.
He is my all time hero, and just to see him in the flesh would be enough, let alone dinner.

Ohh yeah! lol
mine would be Oscar Wilde..........but if he was in absence.........obviously it would be Stephan Fry........(i've met him once and would love to sit down and talk to him)
Karen Armstrong at the moment but so many people I would love to meet don't think it will be the same by the time I've finished the post
A great big slap up meal with Victoria Beckham, make sure she orders something wonderful ......
Then I can eat her dinner too biggrin
what a great thread biggrin
Right mine is Spike Milligan, so many questions to ask......the man fought in a war, battled cronic depression divorced and married many times yet still created some of the most funny scetches, stage performances, radio and TV shows that I've ever seen or heard of and his books are amongst my favourites of all time. His war memoires arre moving, factual and down right hilarious a truelly good read :D

That was becaus i want to hear his vision that spawned 50 or so years of StarTrek and how the hell did he manage to get his ashes shot into space and how much did he pay so i can save up.

He didn't have to pay for it, it's been estimated that 60% or more of NASA's employees got into space and aeronautics because they watched Star Trek. so they sent him up as a thank you
anyway, the question at hand
Chris Cunningham & Michael Gondry worship fekin geniuses
If I had to talk to em, instead of sit and scoff my face, then I would love to have a long natter over dinner with Princess Diana. For someone who had such a timid start to royal life, she developed into a real strong character, would love to know all the background events.

there was a special part of the cambridge film festival devoted to the work of Gondry , it was ace, made some really special films and shorts.
Or Stephen Hawkin ........ have tried several times to read A Brief History of Time, and never got past page 3 rolleyes
Would also invite niceguysdoexist along, cos we both tried reading it together, and he didn't get past page 3 either :lol2:

This gets my vote. A fascinating man
Sure there was a telly programme where people picked 6 people they would like to have a dinner party with now that would be interesting picking different people to get the balance right.
Missy........i've been there........but with Jostien Gardners.......Sophies World..........however hard i try i just cant get through the first few pages...........
i'll give a brief history a try one day........but i'm still struggling with bill brysons short history of time.......its just not good bedtime reading at the end of the day..............give me alexander mccall and time.......... lol

I have managed just over halfway twice, the second time with a notebook ala study note style scribblings and still never finished it!!!
I would love to have dinner with Stephen Fry and David Baddiel, two people who I think would be entertaining, witty, funny and ultimately (behind their public personas) very sincere and intelligent people.
Other than that, Missy Elliott and Claire Balding could come round for some light refreshment anytime
Alfred the Great
Freddie Mercury worship
btw goose, I might be able to help with your wish about your ashes. I'm sure I've got some rockets left over from Bonfire night :giggle:

The Universe in a Nutshell is a much easier read - honestly.
