Hi. Here's probably a very naive question from a newbie. Is everyone who is on here because eventually they would like to find someone to have NSA relationship/fun with or are there people who have joined this on the basis that they would like to get to know like minded people who understand that you can be really liberal about sex without it having a negative impact on how people perceive you.
Was that too sloppily worded?
Personally, in the line of work that I do, if my sexual leanings were to be become apparent, it would probably affect how people judge the professional side of me.

I'm not sure whether by "sexual leanings", you're referring to being bi, or being a swinger, or seeking NSA sex, but there are members in here for all three purposes, and many many more. It's best you look around the site and see what people are here for - the "Let's Meet Up" section is a glorious melange of the sublime and the ridiculous, the weird, wonderful, and sometimes not so wonderful.
And as you have probably seen, here in the cafe anything can be discussed - there will always be a sympathetic ear, whatever anyone has on their mind, or as their intention.
Not sure I've answered your question adequately, but please carry on asking if necessary lol
Mike.
Also, discretion is a major theme here, many of us conceal certain of our personal details for good reasons, often to do with what friends, family, or work colleagues or management would assume (rightly or wrongly) if they knew we frequented this site, and engaged in sexual (or other) activities with contacts made on here.
Hope this helps,
Mike.

Mike.

How articulately said, Mike. That is what I meant. I have friends who do not know about my liberal attitude towards sex and I suspect if they know, they would be worried that I might starting hitting on them or even their partner (why would I when I have the lovely likes of you, Mike to practise my pulling lines on smile )

I guess there's peeps on for all sorts of reasons. Swinging is a hobby for me now and then (I pass on it whenever I'm in a relationship with a non-swinger or when it's too much hassle - I live in Scotland and there's no proper clubs here. My ideal lifestyle would involve living in an area with lots of swingers clubs and in a long term committed relationship with another swinger.) But I enjoy the crack on the Forum, chatting to other swingers or chatting about sex and sexuality and sometimes totally unconnected things. They seem mostly a caring, liberal minded lot and pretty friendly, so there's the chance to make new friends (possibly getting lucky with new sexual partners too - but that's always a possibility meeting new people lol)
I've noticed what seem to be a few no-no: the Forum is not tolerant to anything illegal, it's not tolerant to 'cheating on partners' (especially if it's men doing the cheating), it's not tolerant about sexual services involving money. The common focus is swinging (see terminology - left hand panel) but not everyone is a swinger.
Anyway, have lots of fun and hope you meet lots of new friends or find what you are looking for :-)

Most swings on here are of the heavenly model, but payment is not accepted. Should you earnestly desire to part with some cash I can sell you a very good model that you can only use in the afterlife. I trust you don't mind selling all your worldly possessions in the meantime and living in sackcloth? (I'll have my lawyer, high priest and mind control specialist PM you)

I think we are all here for different reasons, and each part of the site attracts different types of people, but I imagine most are essentially seeking friendship and/or sexual gratification, of some description. At different times we seek different things, depending on our circumstances and desires.
I am here because I love the banter and flirting in the forum, and the buzz and excitement of munches and parties. And because I am a single girl with a big appetite. Basically because i CAN.
How people percieve me is up to them - I am doing nothing wrong and have my reasons for doing it. Although I see no reason to tell anyone other than close friends about it because my sex life is no one else's business. Even if I gave up swinging I would still use the site. I find it inspirational and have made a lot of wonderful friends, which was the last thing I had expected to find here. It is a place I have always felt very comfortable in and if people think that is bad - :rude: .

We heard there was free sarnies!
I haven't really analyzed why I'm on the site too much. And I haven't been around too long anyway. But I guess it's just fun for various reasons.
It's not just that it involves people who have a common interest in swinging with me, or sexual gratification - although those are certainly good things.
Mostly, I just like being in the Forum, and being part of a community of very diverse people doing very diverse, things, yet most of whom are generally open minded, fun, with a relaxed attitude to life..very unique community...

We are mainly on here for the entertainment (as in reading the forums) and to a lesser extent the chance of meeting with the like minded.
We don`t contribute as much as we would like for fear of our persona witnessing through our posts/opinions /humour. We do worry, a little too much, about this happening.
However, it is a wonderful place to read and exchange views with a liberated collection of people of all walks, sex, creed, colour etc.
Additionally the site is a fantastic source of other info. Off the top of the head we have learnt about many , real life , important issues and additionally the polarised, light hearted issues, for example and totally randomly ;
we have all but eliminated junk post, cold call telesales
Learnt ALOT from real life accounts concerning issues many people(us!) misunderstand (m.e, abuse, depression to name but 3)
discovered the wonderful sounds of the crazy frog MONTHS before it appeared on TV confused
rediscovered our love affair with space invaders, fantasia, pac man etc
discovered an appreciation of poetry
Humour. Full stop!
The list , to all intents and purposes, is endless and continues to fairness this post has only really addressed the forum, but there ya go! Essential reading.
I do love the banter here on the forums.....enjoy going to the munches as well....and have met a lot of great people......oh and i think sex comes into it somewhere!!

A nice post Foxy's, but why worry about your personna showing through if you were to post more. Part of what makes the cafe in particular, appealing to me, is the personallities that post here, wether they have a bent for the humorous, the advisory, the serious or the controversial.
I made the decision early on not to be too critical of the shite I post, otherwise I would have got hung up on myself and would probably have hovered over the submit button much more than I do, by doing this I have got much more out of the cafe. By posting I've been able to make people more aware of who I am, which has had the knock on affect of making talking to folk at munches and meeting up with folk, much easier because we kinda know each other a little bit already.
The site itself afforded mrs davej and myself the oppurtunities to explore and experiance some of the things we needed to, so that we were then able to make a better informed decision about the direction we wanted to go, that done, we now enjoy the cafe for it's entertainment, the oppurtunities it gives to meet people and for the sense of belonging it can give.
I would say post away, let your personality show and enjoy the site even more. For me it's given me more fun back, than the effort that I've put in and that can't be a bad deal in this day and age where in general you get owt for nowt.

Don't be ashamed Dave - I'm sure help must be available. It's probably just a temporary thing - have you eaten anything strange lately?

Blimey Dave, kindve wrong footed me aswell. I read and reread your post in search of the gag, or failing that, any reference to hedgehogs or unicorns.
Seriously though, the sentiments in your post are spot on. The one thing I would point out though is that when I refer to worrying about any shreds of humour or personality escaping out into my posts, I am actually worrying about being recognised.
A tad irrational perhaps and it is so frustrating having to sit on my hands whenever someone brings up the subject concerning the aesthetic appreciation of Electric pylons (particularly the XL series erected ) knowing full well that a little over excitement on my part will reveal my identity to anyone browsing who happens to know me.
Actually that was tongue in cheek and a little extreme but you see the angle I`m coming from? In truth, Of the many regular posters on here, I am not aware of too many problems.I guess it`s all about us finding a balance...and worrying less biggrin
Sorry to have wrong footed you as well foxys, only I had previously taken Scandals personality test in his thread and was dissapointed with my results, so I've figured that I need to be more diverse.
biggrin Going back what Maia asked, yes I joined this site after reading the forums and getting the feel of what is going on. OK so I'm getting ready for the "flying objects" or whatver you might say, because Im going to be called a cheeting husband, but I'll take all that. I'm not about to leave, because of the friendlyness and open mindedness I see and enjoy. Yes my family, friends & work colleuges would most probably frown on this kind of fun, and yes I have to be discrete, but I don't want to leave & perhaps it's because of the naughtyness aspect that keeps the exceitment up. When we were first married some 27yrs ago we did swing a little, but my wife didn't realy enjoy it so we stopped. My wife knows I have a highter sex drive than she, so that is why 'Im here. I became a member seeking fun/fiiendship and with an attitude to take it from there should anything "click".
Havn't met up yet, maybe never, but still having fun.
I have been corresponding with someone on something completey unconnected with sex, which I wouldn't have thought possible when I joined. It just just goes to show you how friendly eveyone is. Even Ebay (my most visited site ahead of this) is being brought into the forums, and what sound advice is being given. Enjoy Maia, for what it is.
I'li be staying for as long a I can, that's for sure.
:D LOL I hope to post something more my line, i .e humor, soon. : :D
