(Sorry if this rambles a bit - I was also watching an Afghan language documentary film on BBC4 and trying to keep up with the subtitles while typing this)
As some of you may know, I was assigned the post of "battery tester" in the employment of the WI.
Well, it doesn't pay well, once the ladies have purchased chocolate, wine, copies of "Perfume" and several large "happy Shopper" boxes of AA's - there's barely enough to keep a corrupted penguin in fish and therapists fees.
So, as a sideline, I took on the task of the "Swinging Heaven" compilation CD.
It'll be expensive for you - the great cost of smiles, goodwill and munch based duplication (there must be a joke in that phrase) but it's now moved from a theory into the first steps of action. A very kind mod, who is far too modest to want credit I'm sure (isn't that right, Mark ?) locked the thread and I now have a copy of it from him being sifted and sorted, compiled into a good first volume and, if possible, maybe a second.
This leads us to the purpose of this post - yes, pay attention at the back Will, Arti keep those ferrets quiet and bassdude unplug that amp - heres where you can help.
I need suggestions as to cover artwork and style, and a name for the darn thing. I get the feeling (serious bit coming up) that it'll be best NOT to feature SH on the cover anywhere as people can then happily leave it anywhere or share it with others quite freely. The morning rag running a "Sex cult in brainwashing propaganda CD" headline is not always a good thing.
So, merry throng (thats "throng" - note the 'r', Sappho) get your thinking caps on and your ideas in please.
Mods, can one of you make this sticky (stop laughing at the back, Kat) and lets see if we can't this baby off the ground.

No, to be honest if somebody has an idea for a cover image or style I can give them the pixel sizes I'd need it to fit. I've already got a template part built and can soon drop something in place on either side of the front insert.

I have 90% of the starting tracks ready to convert and should have worked out the last few to complete the CD by the end of Saturday night. Friday nights session finished at around 2am !
It seems that my plans to include "Spem in Alium" on the CD will be curbed for two reasons. One is the length of the darn thing - nearly twice as long as the next longest - and also that whatever the running order it just won't sit alongside the others.
So, once this is done, a classical one will get made - theres quite a few suggestions in thay style in the list and it should be quite easy to knock a second one out.
Oh, and in case you were wondering, I got the full list of 100 votes, transferred them to a spreadsheet and then hid the column for whos vote a certain choice was - this kept it purely on popularity of choice and fitting the CD - all nice and above board !
Right, I'm off to stare at my monitor again for a while - stay with me on this !!
