What is it about Tiger Bread?
I mean it's just normal bread with a slightly burnt crust isn't it ... or are the makers of it adding some secret ingredient that can`t stop me thinking about the 1/4 un-eaten loaf i have left?
Is it just me .. or can others not leave it alone ?
I think it's brushed over with a mixture that might include milk or sugar. It's lovely. biggrin At least it never goes off.
I think it has extract of tiger in it! You know like a tiger in ya tank?

Had it with marmite too so if it does taste like marmite Tills ... i've overdosed lol
1 1/2 tsp yeast
65ml warm water (you may need more)
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 tsp sesame oil
60g rice flour
for a 500gm bread flour recipe, the rice flour makes the tiger appearance as it splits and cracks as it cooks
:lickface::lickface: made some yesterday

I'm afraid it's one of those litmus tests that define swingers, along with pampas grass in the front garden and cream leather sofas. If you don't believe me do a forum search and you'll find they all crop frequently.

how about a few of these stuffed with butter and garlic and served at a session!
or maybe not..............
Well it seems MY suggestion that they rename it Swingers bread has fallen on deaf ears.
Lily Robinson wrote a letter to the supermarket chain telling bosses their patterned loaf should be renamed giraffe bread.
The letter, sent in May 2011, was received by Sainsbury's customer manager Chris King, who loved Lily's ideas.
He replied: 'Renaming tiger bread giraffe bread is a brilliant idea - it looks much more like the blotches on a giraffe than the stripes on a tiger, doesn't it?
He went on to explain the origins of the bread's name, saying: 'It is called tiger bread because the first baker who made it a looong time ago thought it looked stripey like a tiger. Maybe they were a bit silly.'
Mr King also enclosed a £3 voucher 'to buy some tiger bread (and maybe if mum and dad say it is OK you can get some sweeties too!)', signing his letter 'Chris King (age 27 & 1/3)'.
Lily's mother posted the letters on her blog and this week the exchange went viral after being posted on a number of social networks.
Sainsbury's was then bombarded with messages from customers telling them how much they liked Lily's idea.
Yesterday, the supermarket chain decided to trial the name change, implementing it in stores across the country.
A spokesman for the store said: ‘In response to overwhelming customer feedback that our tiger bread has more resemblance to a giraffe, we will be changing our tiger bread to giraffe bread and seeing how that goes.’
It's the sesame oil on the crust which gives it that aroma, flavour and colour.
I'm loving that they've renamed it Giraffe bread. Gem showed me the reply the customer services bod wrote back to the 3 year old in question and I immediately thought 'now there's a guy with too much time on his hands!' lol No, no I mean the guy deserves all the kudos he can get! smile
Fantastic reply, and it's bloody nice that Sainsbury's allow him the time and freedom for responses like that as part of his role. They could spend millions and not get anything like the customer goodwill they're getting from this, which I know makes sense commercially so it's not entirely profit motive free but even so, they're to be applauded.
The 3 year old in question is gonna burst into bits and pieces next time she goes shopping. Thinking about that I hope Sainsbury's see fit to put out an appropriate warning if that looks imminent! Toddlers in supermarkets. rolleyes
Oh dear.
/facepalms
I s'pose I should applaud the effort at least if nothing else, but really, an entire world of neck jokes at your disposal and that was the best you could come up with?
*sorry shake of head*
:P
I`ve had my weekly fix of Tiger (aka Giraffe bread) today ...... lol
