Hello all,
I have been monitoring this site for a while and what a little gem it is. I am a member of a number of sites and this is my fav and what a good humoured bunch you all are. I have a question and it is to do with a common complaint on all sites which is timewasters. Unfortunatley such people give us i.e. a non timewaster like me a bad name. Anyadvice on how a guy like me can overcome the, I tend to emphasise in my mails that I am not such a person, which timwasters are going to do anyway if they are clever enough...your comments please beautiful people???
dunno :dunno: :dunno:
Speaking for myself, I'm a huge timewaster
I should be avoided like the plague.
rolleyes
Yes I agree, avoid Juliett at all costs
  (then i can get her) lol

Timewasters always say that they're not timewasters. It's a line they all use, it takes no brains at all. They are everywhere and everyone suffers from them, just like head lice, fleas and crabs. The way of life with internet contacts, I fear. My advice is get used to it. However, if you have real evidence that an ad on this site is not real, please report it using the "report this ad" facility. Thanks.

Yes, she is isn't she... lol
Mike.
Yes, but we still put in our ads "no timewasters please" so the people in question will no doubt read that and think, Oh well better pick on someone else.
Actually, I'm such a lazy bitch I can't be arsed to be a time waster.
It must be pretty hard work sending out all those emails and remembering not to turn up.
I'd rather watch the telly
lol
Curious. If I don't make a point of saying I am not a timewaster will people assume that I am? If I do make a point of saying I'm not, will I be believed?
Seems a bit superfluous to me. People will make up their own mind.
Apparently different people have different takes on the use of the word "timewaster".
I recently cancelled a meet and rescheduled, but in the interum found out that he had rubbished me to all and sundry on SH as a timewaster. So I cancelled our rescheduled meet lol
I guess in his eyes and in that instance I was a timewaster.

Mike, you know you are very naughty boy!
I'd imagine that most of the people with a full purple bar <<<over there<<< are probably not timewasters, whereas people with a single (short) post, and no info in the profile, no website etc etc possibly are. best way is to get to know people first, that way, if they are a timewaster, then they've spent an awful lot of time building up to it biggrin
It's quite pointless putting "no timewasters" in an ad as it is just as stupid to say " genuine ad".......of cause it should be a genuine ad or else it would not have been done.
Another view on the subject....
What if after speaking for a while, those ppl you have been chatting to, just decide from the various emails, pics etc that have taken place, that then suddenly decide that we dont 'click'? OK they should have the manners to say this to our face, but are they time wasters or just suffering from bad manners?
Personally, i dont care about timewasters, their loss after all.... lol
Well thank you for your responses, it's something that plays on your mind when writing a mail should i say it should i not? but if i don't how will they know i serious...I also agree that manners cost nothing and if you do not believe you will click with someone then be honest but polite. By the way how does the purple bar work<<<< I,ve got a full one, well i must be one of the good guys then.

You have got a grey bar, not a purple one. Thus, we haven't got a clue whether you are wasting our time or not lol
I have a purple bar, but I wasted a lot of time to get it  confused rolleyes

I was just reading the above post and you reckon that people that have a full blue bar are probably not time wasters, I would have to disagree. The blue bar generally shows how much you post and contribut to the forum, I will be honest with you, there are so many people spaming these forums with absolute crap that their little blue bar will fill up. I wish people wouldnt spam its bloody annoying.
The only way I recken you can weed the timewasters grom the genuine folk is by actually organising meets and seeing who turns up. I think it would be cool to have a link where people can post after a meet, they can post wether it was a waste of time or not. No need for all the gory details, maybe just something to the tune of "We met so and so on Saturday night, had drinks really got on well and fun was had by all" etc. That way peeps know whos a sure thing and who isnt. Nothing necessarily has to have happened as when people meet they might feel that it isnt for them.
I hope that this has been of some use.
Cheers
zim cool
it must be really annoying to arrange a meet turn up and have a no show very demotivating, as of yet it has not happened to myself fingers crossed but with the law of probability it is only a matter of time I suppose
I go purple when I hold my breath, that is certainly wasting my time... and the paramedics if I keel over..
I'm still here....... wasting more time rolleyes
Is there a timewaster fetish? Would timewasters be indulging in delicious sloth and idleness?

Isuues of confidentiality (among other things) would make your suggestion a complete non-starter, I'm afraid. Many people here would simply not want to be mentioned in any such "report", however positive it was. There would also be the danger of people making up false reports. All you can do is report alleged timewasters to the mods, who can monitor whether any pattern emerges.

Mike.
If meetings were arranged and posted on here in advance, though obviously not the details eg i will be meeting ************ on Sat evening, both parties could then write a report as to the others genuiness. Hence false reports could not happen as if you knew about it in advance and didnt disagree to the meeting taking place notice you couldnt argue with the afterpost.
Personally as a genunie person I would welcome this facility.

I wouldnt welcome this. I'm a genuine person as well but I wouldn't want to advertise to everyone who I was meeting. Nor would I want everyone to know when I was meeting people. Of course, I'm not actually meeting people at the moment anyway, but if that changed I'd still prefer to keep it to myself than announce it to the whole of SH

Cant see anything to be ashamed of in just meeting someone!!!
We agree Angel. We know we are genuine and so do the people we have met; we don't feel the need to advertise when/whom we meet, nor do we have to prove it to the general population on this website.
What happens if the other party doesn't want to do that anyway - would people automatically assume that they are not genuine because they aren't willing to take part in that setup?
Another thing to remember is that other people can access the website so if meets were advertised, anyone might turn up.

I didn't say I'd be ashamed of it, merely that I wouldn't necessarily want to announce it to the forum and/or site as a whole
Oh well must be me thats too genuine!!! But thats how i like liife to be lived, up front , obviously not everyones the case and it wouldnt be compulsory, just optional to those of us that are prepared to particpate, give feedback and have feed back given to us. For my thining it would be worth it if saved just one person being pissed about by the non genuine contingent.
Of course the actuall time locatiion wouldnt be stated for public viewing just that a meetings taking/taken place!! (as stated in original post)
