the thing with Tom Tom buddies.....is its actually free.....and what it does is let you know if any of your friends are in your area so you can meet up.....so i guess its like msn .....you have to invite people into your buddies list.

"wireless" is a generic term that can mean a lot of different things - AFAICT tomtom only has bluetooth (which is a short distance form of wireless that it only uses for talking to your nearby mobile phone).
AFAIK the buddies system works by the tomtom using bluetooth to talk to your mobile and your mobile sends your location information to tomtom. The other person's (your buddy) tomtom uses thier mobile to ask tomtom where you are and it passes that information on.
So although it is a free service from tomtom - you will have to pay for the information going over your mobile (unless data services are included in your mobile contract).

............and it's only useful if your buddies are within the scope of the map showing on your Tomtom, so if they are more than, say half a mile away, you can't see them anyway!!

My pda which runs tomtom, is also a phone and it has bluetooth. - I connect to my wireless gps receiver through bt.
So what do I do next?
