Hi all, it's been some time since I posted due to personal issues that needed concentration, resolution and, at times, the odd sherbet, but not chat! sad
I was speaking to a friend of mine a few days ago and during the course of the conversation she mentioned she was a tomboy when young. This jolted my memory to a girl I knew a few years back who also used to be a tomboy. Both of them are the most sexual and sexually active women I have ever known and although it's far, far from a statistical analysis it made me wonder if there's any link between the two. Probably not, but wondered if anyone else has any further experience/views on the subject? confused:
Hi del and welcome back
I was a real tomboy - hated skirts and girly things although a real fashion victim even when young. I didn't wear pink till i was about 30!
I started wearing suspenders and skirt when I discovered sex! And never looked back, I am far more girly now and love my heels, skirts and nice underwear.
Am I sexual? Am I sexually active? You decide...

Hello Del, I'm a bit of a tomboy in that I don't do the girlie dresses and skirts much. It's not that I don't like them, they just don't suit me. I've always dressed in suits, dresspants etc., I wear make up when I'm out but I've been told I don't need it even then. In saying that, underneath the clothes are a different matter.... redface
When I was younger I was far happier in a field making "camps" than playing with "pippa dolls"!
As for being sexual/sexually active... yes very much so! I have a very high sex drive wink
Yes, I was and still am at times a tomboy.
I dont do and never have done the giggly girl stuff and I am very impatient with what i see as "useless, cant do" women. redface Although, i admit, i do not have an inbuilt satnav and i do get lost biggrin
As a youngster i was very sporty and so lived in tracksuits or jeans. Clubbing was a different matter though and femininity was mainly the game. And yes, I wore a short skirt and stilletos for my driving test lol
Now, i'd say i was a bit of both, i can look very girly but would not think twice about doing something with the kids that would smudge makeup or ruin the hair - who gives a fluck - some women i find are too uptight with how they look.
Over the years, i have been accused of thinking like a man because i dont come in to the girly section, do i care?? No wink
Why are some women more tom-boyish?
I was once given a theory at college on this; make of it what you will.......
Tomboys come from more testosterone exposure in the womb ..... A test on this is the index finger is usually shorter than the wedding fingers (most mens are like this) - other girly women (or feminine men) will have a longer index finger.
Its a weird thought i know but look around at the fingers :D
Well I was and am still a 'tomboy' - make of that what you will. lol
Out of interest - what about the fingers??
If you saerch "index finger lengths" it comes up with loads of stuff about it from sexuality to aggression.
Tho alot is speculation still intresting reading.

I was 'tested' for this once as a longer ring finger is a biological trait of Aspergers.
My ring finger is almost 1cm longer than my index finger.

I got mistaken for a little girl when I was about 7 in the Greengrocers with my mum... there's a pattern forming here I think confused

I think you may be right!
I quite frequently had to suffer the indignity of being told "Excuse me, don't you realise that this is the ladies!" redface
That hasn't happened for at least 15 years though!

Pink, you look all woman from here, but can't tell from 18 miles if you're sexual or active! redface
It is interesting that there seems to be a number of women who have gone through the tomboy phase. My friend said that it is only in the last few years that she too has started wearing sexy clothes after discovering sex. I wonder if anyone has ever done any academic studies on the topic?
Ultimate tom-boy here.
ex called me "geezer-bird" redface
I don't do "pretty". Pink only comes in shades of "hot". Can't cook, won't cook. Don't mind getting dirty. Drink pints and wear jeans.
But underneath .... flirty and sensual with a huge knicker collection. cool
My femininity was one of the main reasons it took me a long time to realise that I was a .
It was only seeing Beth Jordache and her g/f on brooky all those years ago that I realised that I could be a lesbian and still have long hair, nice nails, and enjoy wearing skirts. (Yeah I know that my middle name is naive but I grew up in a very small community where dykes were spoken of as man wannabes' and the media said much the same thing)
But saying that my first job role was as a vehicle electrician. I have never worn make-up and am always happy to get covered in mud and the like with my son.
TLF was a tomboy etc now she all pink and fluffy lol Oh and she try and convinces you she all shy and innocent  yea right

Hi Del wave
I never really thought about it until now, but in my early twenties I went out with a girl who was very 'blokey'. She was slim, with narrow hips, small pert breasts, and she played killer pool and drank pints. She was one of the most sexy beings I've ever seen. She exuded sex appeal from every pore and she was rampant!
:sigh: Why does our youth have to slip away so easily?

It's sad in some ways, but experience over age is better, don't you think?
Ahhh... I'd love to be twenty again but with the experience I have now. I'd be dangerous!

Or how popular one would be. Just imagine at 20 being able not only know what a clitoris is, but where to find it!
I was a tomboy and still think I have many male traits in me lol.
Got caught up in a tree once when I was about 7 hanging from the top branch by my thick green tights  - never wore buddy tights again for years lol.
Used to drink pints but hopeless at darts and pool but not sure if thats what makes you a tomboy?

Thx Del. I am equally happy rolling around in dirt with the kids and dressing up smart and girly for going out ( wink ). I can do both.
Kiss, my ring finger is shorter by quite a bit so I must be more girly!
Splendid, that Beth Jordache scene with Margaret - oh remember it so well

When I was younger I mostly wore trousers, preferred everything to be blue/didn't wear pink things, climbed trees and liked playing with the boys (in a completely innocent way I may add!), but when there was a party to go to for instance, I enjoyed being girly and wearing a dress, make up etc.
I think I'm much the same now. I like to wear pretty underwear and dress up like a girlie lol but couldn't be that way every day. I start to feel the need to put on my wellies, walk through the muddy fields with the dogs and if I could get away with it, climb some trees too, and generally muck about being tomboyish!
I easily switch between both ways.
I have never, and never will, drink pints though! (Mostly cause I couldn't manage a whole one!)
Laird reckons I have quite a lot of "male traits" dunno He says a lot of the time I think like a guy!
I'm just me and happy that way! biggrin

Agreed Fee. Just can't do it, have to drink from bottles (only if wearing jeans not a skirt) or have two half pints! loon

in edit: my 400th post!!!
I am Tom Boy too
Hated to wear dresses untill i was older and i still dont very often and make up which i still don't wear too often lol
Well i do wear dresses and pvc clothes now when i go to munches and socials.
At times i thought i should have been born a boy.
I guess today it is more acceptable for women to dress how they feel comfortable and ok dress up when it is needed.
I keep being told i am a sexy women but i dont think i am perfect but then is anyone.
I guess even guys feel that they aint perfect either but then having a caring and loving nature is more important and being willing to listen to others.
Tomboy here too, always climbing trees in the woods with the boys, doing the jumps on the bmx track on my shopper bike redface (i asked for a grifter mad ) Did have barbie and sindy dolls tho as could then swop and play with the boys action men :giggle:
My first jobs were very male dominated, and was always one of the dressing girlish at 14 when i started going clubbing as it was the thing to do.
Had a problem with boyfriends tho till i learnt to hide my "one of the ladish ways" as guys told me they found me a great laugh but intimidating as a bird  I guess climbing out of a moving car window over the roof and back in the other window was just for guys, along with telling dirty jokes dunno
Any one else find this??
Nicky
I am a tomboy but I don't have any outwardly male traits per se. Except maybe holding open doors and offering to carry a ladies bag. (I forget I'm a female! redface)
I just have a male brain when it comes to engineering, sex, DIY and not being scared of things etc. lol
I was always up a tree, or making "dracula pies" when I was a kid.
Nowadays- I think Im just confused! Im quite often to be found lifting engines etc, and yes I can, and do change my own tyres.
I'm happy when hanging around with grimy, hard drinking sailors & just being one of the lads- although whenever I get on board in my heels I get thisrolleyes, to which I reply, ah but if I wasn't such a tart you wouldn't love me so much. Then the shoes will come off & I'll be running round the deck all day barefoot getting splinters. confused
I've tried, in vain admittedly to get my TKD instructor to let us wear pink uniforms- or at least pink sparkly belts.....see what I mean about being confused!
If Im off out, Im loathe to do so in jeans (unless they sparkle) and would far rather wear a dress with nice undies.
My index finger is around 3mm longer than my ring finger. Thank fluck the middle finger is not significant- thats been worn down over the years innocent
In edit, from the Beeb:"and that women are more likely to be fertile if they have a longer index finger." No one told my womb
This is the same with me folks- I was a complete tom boy when I was younger!
I used to love running about playing football, climbing trees, flying about on my bike when I was wee, and now I'm always doing the DIY, fixing any machines in the house which may (or may not!) be broken. I love adventure sports, and sometimes i do feel a bit like a bloke....If I wasn't a physio I'd love to be a car mechanic or a surgeon, cos I love fixing things.
However, like most have said, I'm also a very girly girl, i like doing 'wifey' things, i love pink, I used to be a ballerina, i always wear skirts and I'm sure my head is full of sparkly glittery things, kittens, and blow jobs!
And I suppose burlesque is a pretty feminine thing to do!
In the book, 'why men don't listen and women can't read maps', they talk about how masculinity/femininity/ gay/straightness depends on how much testosterone/oestrogen you get when you're in the womb.... very interesting theory and I would definately say that most of the bi girls I know have some 'masculine' traits.....
hmmmmmm.......
