Can anyone tell me whats best for getting rid of toothache without invloving a dentist confused
Neurofen Plus (sp?) has worked for me.
Ibruprofen works for me.
But your only treating the sympton not the cause - go to the dentisit!!
Why are people scared of the Dentist?
I have been using Ibuprofen for 2 days, I have wisdom teeth growing in so I tink its that thats causing the pain. I swear if mr naughty's friends werent here I cry like a baby
i feel sympathy for you as i had impacting wisdom teeth....i popped pain killers like sweets...(stupid i know), but eventually had them removed...and my god..how great that felt, although face was sore for a few days after, basically...lots of sympathy and kisses will help kiss

Nothing worse than toothache !! i think you can take Paracetemol with Ibruprofen for a bit of added pain relief - anyone know if you can?

aww thanks very much teppic, they are very much appreciated.
And thanks to you andy too, thank god have plenty paracetomol in the medicine cabinet.

If you have impacted wisdom teeth you MUST get them seen to.
Mine were impacted and I needed them removed before they even started to come through. I had to have them removed in hospital.
Dentists aren't scary.
It feels like someone is hitting the left side of my face with a sledge hammer.
Well maybe a bit less extreme but it is so so sore. Maybe you rubbing your nipples there would help?
A hot water bottle usually does the trick for me rolleyes  along with a cple of painkillers..

Barring that Alcohol always helps - but the Liver doesn't half take a hammering from an extended bout of "pain " relief!!
Well I had a tiny drink earlier but when I felt the pain coming back i knew i had to stop or I couldnt take my all important pain killers!!!
RE: taking both paracetomol and ibuprofen.
Yes, you can take these together as they work differently (I'm doing this at the moment for my tonsilitis). A doctor will recommend you don't take them at the same time, but leave a two hour gap betweek: i.e.
Ibprofen
2 hours
paracetomol
2 hours
ibuprofen
...
Also works extremely well for pulled muscles.

Cheers Zootle - couldn't remeber if i was making it up or had actually heard this!!
Lilmis naughty - what strenght Ibruprofen you got?
Be careful, it you have an abcess the heat from the hottie will draw it somewhat  Ibuprofen (neurofen but cheaper) will soothe the inflammation but you will have to get it looked at - no escape from that.
Hope it gets better soon.
:P

It's a tip I originally got from my sister, but I have since been told it's ok by a real doctor smile
(inicluding earlier this week where a doctor recommended it to me)
Aww jags...
So do you think I should use a watter bottle? or just leave it just incase?
I'll get on the phone to the dentist but I'll need to be dragged kiking and screamign and I'll be very grumpy afterwards
If the painkillers aren't working you could always play on to try to take your mind off it wink
Unfortunately most of their advice involves dentists sad
I'm one of those people with an "irrational" fear of dentists....but mine stems back to being a 13 year old having a filling with the dentist from hell - "we won't bother with anaestetic today"
rotflmao your not making me feel any better here. I'm more scared of the dentist than I would be a group of bloomin terrorists
Dentists are mostly harmless.
Its th enoise when theyre scraping at your teeth, send sshivers down my spine

Sorry Sweetheart. Mine is an irrational fear. Everyone tells me I have nothing to worry about so that must mean you don't either. Can I make it up to you wink
Well can someone tell me...
Should I just leave a hot water bottle in case of an abcess or use it anyway?
