Totally Pissed off!

We went shopping for some Xmas presents on Sat,
Left our car in the carpark as normal...We came back approximately an hour later, only to discover someone had reversed into our car mad

:x The bumper is cracked and some paint damage.. I am fuming as we are going to be out of pocket having a Â£200 quid being the excess on our policy..It is an expense that at the moment we could have done without.. I can't understand why the people that cause this kind of damage can just drive off ! without any explanation whatsoever..It makes one lose their faith in society sad

.Has this ever happened to anyone else ?

Sorry to hear that Lucy.
I came back from a trip a while back and my car had been stolen and trashed. The insurer's have written it off but it's still left me around 1500 quid out of pocket and now it's going to take me about 6 months of hard work to claw my financial position back to where it was before.

but
it may not seem to happen, but they always get it done to them. I know from experience. The world is full of a 50/50 split. Some are the salt of the earth and will do anything to help...the rest are asswipes.
May you run into a good one next time. I see it EVERY day in my job, and basically most are just afraid to meet the person they have bumped for fear of being hit,verbally abused or plain embarrassed. To may these days, it is a frightening world. I tend to pay out private and not go the insurance route, but then my car is coal fired and although nothing sparkling, it serves its purpose...

Sadly Jon had exactly the same thing happen to his car in early July. Fortunately there was a witness to it happening and he informed the police at the time.
He also tried to flag down the old lady who had driven into Jon's car, only for her to make no attempt to stop, not even appearing to see him, and ran over his foot :shock: mad

He waited for almost an hour until Jon returned to the car and gave him all the details of the other driver, along with his details for the insurance company to get a statement from him about the accident.
The upshot of it is, the old lady who caused the damage is denying it all. We have had the car repaired through our insurance, and paid the excess, but the two insurance companies are still wrangling over the claim a full four months later evil

We were even told by the police officer investigating the claim that we were mean to pursue it because the lady is very old and the stress could kill her :!: :x It beggars belief
Personally we think if she's that old she shouldn't be driving, especially as she did not appear to see the witness right in front of her car. Can you imagine if a child had stepped out in front of her? It doesn't even bear thinking about :shock:

Yup, had my car deliberately damaged a few years back. Someone put huge scratch right across the bonnet (so not impact related). Cost nigh on 900 quid to get it repaired. I only had to pay 250 of course, the excess, but still.
Some people are just plain bad.

Two, quite differing experiences.
Both of us were walking into the local supermarket car park when we witnessed a car reverse, at considerable speed into another parked car and watched as the elderly driver tried to drive away!!!
I stood in front of the car so that they couldn't and the next minute got an earful from the very elderly lady in the passenger seat telling me to get out of the way. I tried to reason with them but she continued with her verbal assault despite the fact I refused to move. We both pointed out that the decent thing to do was at least speak to the person who's car it was but to no avail and eventually they drove around me. I took their number, tracked down the driver in the supermarket and gave it to the owner. The police eventually contacted me for a statement although I have no idea of the outcome.
Second event happened when we had our window broken by a group of kids. Police caught them and we were offered the chance to meet with them face to face in a effort to show them how people are affected by their actions which was an alternative to the childrens panel. I agreed simply because the kid had never been in trouble before and we can all make mistakes. Lady wouldn't come 'cause she wanted to wring his neck but I went and met with the kid and his family. He was / appeared to be sorry for what he had done and I had some say into what would be a suitable punishment, cleaning graffitti, picking up litter etc..
What stuck in my throat was when I asked if he could pay me back the Â£60 excess I had to pay for the window getting repaired I was told that that didn't fall into the remit!!!!!
FFS I could hardly afford the Â£60 two weeks before xmas. What kind of message does that send.
People, from kids to adults should start taking some F####ing responsibility for their OWN actions...

Sorry to hear that Lucy, some people are just totally selfish! They could have left a note for you to contact them. Just a thought though...were there any security cameras in the carpark that may identify who these people were?

I have been reversed into once and the person was decent enough to contact me biggrin

Unfortunately I have reversed into three vehicles, but I left a note each time on the windscreen with my address.........mind you I was driving a bin wagon at the time lol

My shame is that I did do a runner once though. It was a long time ago and I reversed a tank over a bus shelter in Germany. At four in the morning there were no passengers to squash, thakfully. I was in an area that I shouldn't have been so the crew and me decided to keep shtum. I know its shameful, but I have learnt from my experiences and never done that agian. Mind you, I no longer have a tank......

Tell me about it!
Just three days after renewing my insurance policy a gang of kids ran over my car (shouldn't it be the other way around)
Â£1700 damage. I can't listen to the radio either because they thoughtfully snapped off the aerial.
I can't pay the Â£175. Thankfully I paid the "no claims bonus" so it won't affect me next year, but I'm very dogged off.

I had a friend who had just bought a fantastic new car. The first day of actually having the car to drive he brought it to work.
After a nice 12 hour night shift we heard this almighty crash. Looked out of the window and his brand new car was flattened like a pancake. We also saw the mate who did it. He had just finished the shift too and hadn't even noticed.
We had to ring him on his mobile to stop and look at the back of his car. After he stopped we could hear the swear words.
We still watch the incident on the ccTV at work. Very funny. The new car a complete write off. The older car was just bumber damage.

I bought a new car a few weeks back
So far someone has run into the front of it and broken the bumper and someone has run into the back of it and dented the rear door mad

needless to say no message or whatever. To be honest it happens so often I dont even bother getting cars repaired anymore

I reversed into some one elses car once when I was learning to drive it was outside a bloke of flats so I had no idea who it belonged to. I left my details under the window screen wipers
Because I'm an honest person and it was my fault I wanted like it if that happened to me so why would other people run when it happens to someone else evil

I,m a carer and travel to the homes of elderly or disabled , and from time to time myself and other carer,s have come out only to discover that some one has scratched our cars mad

the last one i had was right across the bonnet :x

OH Lucy soooo sorry to here about your car. I couldn't beleive when I read this today as yesterday I watched out the window while someone reversed into a parked car 3 times :shock: Completely brain dead. Pale blue Rover 75 (I will let you guess the age of the driver!) I went out and got their registration but when I tried to flag them down they just drove off!!!! There were about 12 of us who all saw what happened.

Sorry to hear about the damage to your car
I had my car keyed when i left it outside the pub i managed. soon learnt why the owner of the pub had an escort van parked outside and a jaguar parked at his mates house!!! The escort van had loads of Chav art on it.
Had my last car crashed into on 2 occasions, i since got a new car and now park at the furthest part of the car park possible, i don't know if my lovely partner wonders
"Ermm why has McG parked as far away from Sainsburys as possible when its raining?!!"
"Why has McG parked in the part of the cinema carpark where no-one else parks?"
My advice is if you are fully able then park as far away from the other cars as possible, my favourite parking space would be one with 5 spaces either side, in order for someone to scratch your car in that position they have to be numpties!!!!
