I'm not sure how it can be fixed when a chatroom gets too popular. I guess it's just evolution, but (in my opinion) it's not half as good as it used to be... feels very impersonal, very unfriendly, and on the whole, no longer fun.
Hope you can turn it around (the people who make it worthwhile going in at all).
It's not a criticism, and it'll be hard to see from the inside, but it's becoming cliquey!... get it sorted chaps.

well i'm fairly new to the site (maybe 3 months now?) so don't think i could be said to belong to a clique of any sort, but it's a criticism you hear more and more! but even in that short time i have to agree with you! used to go in and know well over half of the room! (virtually at least) now go in at times and struggle to find anyone i know, so it's not surprising that the long standing regulars talk to eachother, and yes that could appear cliquey, but really it's just a circle of regulars within an ever expanding circle of newbies, many of whom just don't get the point and will soon fall away, to be replaced by more! (please don't take this as a criticism of newbies at all. we we're all newbies once! ;-) )
yes it's not so friendly cos the turnover of users seems huge, and it's bloody hectic in there lately! which does make it hard to meet new people in there when it's busy, and i'm sure many of them feel it's somewhat less welcoming than the room i got to know and enjoy so much! many of the regs i got to know seem to be using the room less and less at the moment, which is a problem for the site as a whole i think! how you fix it and still be a friendly, open, welcoming place??? well i don't know!!!!
still worth a visit though AK, and you always seem to get a big welcome when you do come in!
hope to see you in there some more!

I'm probably being thick but when I click on the chatroom link all i get is 3 boxes with actions (eg.... say hello to the room etc, emoticons and another one!), photo ad jump and the rules in the window - nothing else.
I haven't yet registered because I followed the user guide thingy and every time i click on the link it just comes up with that.... nowhere to put in a username etc.
Can someone help? It's probably me being stupid though!

I registered for chat when I joined SH . I had no problem getting in to the chatroom on that occasion.
However, on every subsequent attempt to enter the chatroom I have been asked to register again.
Even though I noted the nickname and password that I initially used for chat, I am still unable to access this facility. :cry:

If you don't login for a certain period of time, your nickname becomes unregistered, so you'll have to go through the registration again.

Well I can connect, and chat, not now getting the partial connect and disconnect/reconnect thing that some seem to have (and I did for a while)....but I do have a little problem that maybe someone can shed light on.
I use both IE and Ozilla Firefox to browse, and they both seem to have this.
When I connect, start chatting (all fine so far) and then either after a few minutes or if I decide to scroll the user list up and down I get a very strange thing happening. The topmost post on the screen appears in the box I enter my text in, and also in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, on the right hand side, where the little list if icons of currently running stuff goes.
It is still possible to post, but I can't see what I'm typing (which since my typing is pretty poor doesn't help much) and it's a tad annoying.
Anyone any clues/ideas?
