I realise this might be 'grumpy old men' territory but can anyone explain to me what the attraction of Ugg boots is to women. I, personally am always repelled when I see women wearing them and just can't compute why they would wear something so literally ugly.
If it is practicality why wouldn'y they wear a balaclava when it's cold ? This has bugged me for a while now and need to know the thinking..
I have too say that i agree with you 100 per cent on this.
they are the ugliast things a woman can ware on here there a purpose to it?
Although I dont find them unattractive I do believe its just a brand name thing. Ugg is the Nike of the soft boot world. The footwear is not particularly better than some other brands but still costs more due to the name. These would come up at auction (police seized or lost airport property) and people would be overly obsessed with winning a pair confused??: I never bought any for resale simply because by the time the bidders finished and you added commission and VAT you could buy them cheaper on Ebay lol That could be said for lots of clothing and footwear actually.
They aren't quite as ugly as crocs though.... *shudder*
I'm ashamed to say I do own, and even occasionally wear a 'cheap' version of ugg boots (read as primarni... £9) I, too, hated them on sight but reluctantly tried them on and they were like mini hugs for your tootsies lol It's like a socially acceptable way to go out in your slippers (which I would also do if I could get away with it).
I'm afraid I'm not a fan... but probably because I reckon they'd do nothing for my calves!
wink
Someone on telly the other day said they're out of vogue this season, so they might be moot boots. ;-)
I didn't realise that there was a sub-brand issue to it. But nevertheless it is the style of boot that I have a problem with but I am dumb-founded that people might be so focused on buying 2nd hand versions of the 'real thing'!!
To those of you who do possess a pair of the type, has anybody ever told you that they look terrible ??

Whilst were in an informative mode lol Pink tracksuits + woman =
I know its not womans job to walk around looking fantastic all the time but jeez those things are hideous especially the toweling looking ones. They do nothing to flatter they often hang at the ass like your wearing a nappy. Never yet seen a woman look good in a pink tracksuit sad

I think the worst is the women in pink tracksuits AND Ugg boots at the same time..
Mine are pretty redundant now.. no-one has told me they look awful, but that doesn't mean I am not aware of the fact, I just sometimes choose comfort over looking good
Thank god tramp boots are in fashion now.. comfortable, and IMO sexy as fuck!!
Ugg boots - yuk.
They aren't water-proof - which in my mind makes them useless as boots, they are fabric that gets dirty easily, they are flat which does zero for your posture, walking and back-pain. They are warm, but that's it.
They are uniformly ugly.
And why on earth would someone buy something because of its name? Ever, anything? That's got to be about the stupidest reason for buying anything, alongside "I got it cos (insert famous person's name) has one".
I know it's harsh, but seriously, Ugg? Daft.
On another site I frequent the discussion was about Rolex watches and why some people pay an absolute fortune for them. Forgetting why they do for the moment, but one guy who had a genuine one was really pissed off when holidaying in Thailand. No-one would believe it was a real one when they were selling copies for a couple of quid and everyone and his dog had one!! rotflmao

wink
PS - the only people who did believe it was real were the street vendors themselves!!blink

Not just to women, I saw a guy on the tube wearing a pair a couple of days ago - yuck lol
The Difference between real UGG boots and cheap imititaions is that UGG boots are made in Australia with real sheepskin lining and are very comfortable. Whereas the cheap ones are bad for your feet, legs and posture. I have a cheap pair but only because they are convenient for the school run! biggrin

Sweet Jesus, stop the world I want to get off blink
I think they are horrid, you see young girls slip-slopping around in them in this bleak weather, all twisted underfoot, that can`t be good for you honestly can it, so for goodness sake get a real pair of boots.
I got a real pair from Aus... I have a fake pair somewhere too but can't remember why I bought them or when I wore them.
They're not the most attractive boots in the world but I tell you what... they're brilliant in the snow and have been invaluable to me over the last couple of months. The grips are ace and have saved me from falling on my arse more than once!
Uggs are not the real in thing, boots from LFA, Love From Australia are the best !! have a look on google , ... I think

Its not the shoes you want to worry about! That scuba mask your wearing in your avatar is filthy black! Needs a good clean.

Ugg boots... nope, never even tried a pair on because I don't think they'd look good on me, at all. Makes me cringe when I see young kids wearing the fake ones and they're walking on the side of their boots with their ankles twisted slightly and no support. But then, I could argue the evilness of walking in Stilettos too! lol
I want to know what "tramp boots" are? Payne mentioned them and I've no idea.
I suppose I'll happily stick with my 's AirWare soles... now that is comfort!
Minx loves her docs, we even have a pic of em on the profile.
Warm and comfy, like slippers . Never thought I would wear anything so ugly but I'm in love lol

Gem.. I don't know if tramp boots are the official term.. I just call them that coz they look all scruffy (which I love)
They are kinda like these

But I only wear them laced half way xx
Ahhh! Thanks Payne! I'd call them biker boots, or Mock Docs! lol When I put tramp boots into the search engine it came up with dozens of photos of fancy dress style boots; toeless, ragedy and er... trampy.
I had a quick squizz at Minx's DM's too. :rascal:
Sometimes I think I really do need to not be practical with my footwear, but then I'd hardly ever wear anything that wasn't comfy. confused
