There has been, talk recently about the desirability of certain nicknames.
Now that it has been decided, that names with 'boy' and 'girl', are not desirable, would it not be a good time to look at the nicknames that are, shall we say, of a rude or uncouth nature.
Avatars on here are not allowed to be of an explicit nature, and i believe that nicknames should be placed under the same restrictions.
Now dont go thinking i'm a prude, i'm not, and i know this is a swingers forum, and chatroom, with all the sexual undercurrent that goes with these things.
However, i do believe that a bit of decency in the nickname department would be good for the image of SH.
The purpose of this thread is to check out opinion, and to invite comment on this topic, so that i can ascertain whether or not other members have similar opinions.
All that i have said above is just a personal opinion, and i'm not looking to upset anyone, rather to guage membership opinion.

I agree, there's one at the moment which I think is a bit OTT, 'Dirtyfuckers'. I'm not a prude but that one just seems, well, not nice at all

The folk with crap nicks usually get ignorred or banned so fast they leave no impression on my life or my opinions of the boards. Nicks like "wannacumonURface" tells me a lot about a person before I have even been in touch with them. Just another restriction that is not needed really.
I think if someone has an nick with something illegal in it then that person would be banned before their foot was in the door. There is loads behind the scenes we don't see.
So in short, nah, as long as it doesn't break aup or the law, fine by me.

Or are you talking seriously? I don't really think you can legislate for peoples names, anything too offensive then understandably but
If you start applying to many conditions then it starts getting ridiculous and smacks a bit of political correctness too much.

The OTT one that finally made me do this thread was the @dirtyfuckers' nick. Thats an example, of what we really dont need.

I don't believe putting restriction on what names you can or can't have. Pictures are a little more easier to ascertain what is legal and what isn't. We simply don't have genital shots in the avatars for legal reasons.
You can find swear words, sayings or nicknames that may be a little offbeat but they are words and everybody can say them to anybody. There are no laws restricting people from saying certain words in public so why here?
Personally I don't find many words offensive. But to restrict my vocab because of some people not liking them is wrong.

Only pulling ya leg! ;)I am not keen on the word cunt, so if someone had that username I'd probably give them an abreviation there by making me feel better by not having to type it and them cos they get a specific reply. No easy answer, but I think the mods have enough on their plates without having to regulate the more mild of the rude usernames too.

I do agree that the ops and mods have enough to do without having to decide whether someone's name is undesirable, though.
I just don't like that particular chat name, although I do use the word 'fuck' on a regular basis, so can't really explain why I don't like it. I think I'm confused

If only people realised when they choose their nickname that one day they might come along to a munch and have to give their nickname to the doorman and get their name badge. I think most would want to do that without too much embarrassment!
I know little miss naughty is already quaking in her long white boots at the prospect of having to give her nickname to the doorman at the Scottish munch!

Well I had to declare mine at Rios so I could get my fiver discount. Sarah1448 had used all our nicknames for the list to get in.
I felt a bit of a pratt saying I was sartois (which BTW is short for my fave beer and seemed like a good idea at the time) and am certainly glad I never used something like IWannaCumOnYerFace etc else I would never have gone in and as for actually meeting people in one of the social gatherings from here with that sort of nick...not a chance!!
