Several people have PMd to say that it is a while since they heard the news of the twins. So, here goes........
Both twins are doing extremely well. The scans show that they appear to be perfectly formed so far and are growing at an alarming rate. In fact, as a result, Sappho is also growing at an alarming rate  'The bump' is growing at the rate of 2cm a week, and has been for a little while. Official D-day is not until june 1st!
Speaking of Sappho she has been extremely bad at taking it easy (actually, she is pretty bad at doing what she's told anyway ) so she has been signed off work for a month.
We have finally met the Consultant. He had kept us waiting for about an hour and while we were waiting we mused on things (as we are inclined to do). Having ruled out the idea of a shag in the cubicle while we were waiting (those curtains are too damned flimsy ) we wondered what the Consultant would look like. James Robertson Justice from the 'Doctor' films, perhaps? Or a dashing sort of Dirk Bogarde or James Mason lookalike (Sappho is into old movies, you may have gathered).
When the curtains opened and he walked in even I was impressed (and I am as straight as they come). Guys - he was the sort of person who makes you think "Why can't I look like that?" Girls - PM Sappho for a proper girlie description. Suffice it to say he was very tall, slim, well dressed, well spoken and had wavy collar length hair. Frankly, all that hair on a man CAN'T be right. It's not healthy! Not that I am biased or anything  (It has been pointed out before that I look like the shock emoticon! :shock.
Sappho complained of abdominal pains. The urbane medic asked if he could take a look.
Before you could say "Braxton-Hicks" she was flat on her back with her top lifted up and the waistband of her skirt lowered.
He felt, stroked and prodded her swollen tummy very expertly. I could tell from the glint in her eyes that she was enjoying it rather more than she ought!
His back had not quite disappeared through the curtains before she voiced her opinion:
Sappho: Phwooooaaaarrrrhhhhhh! hwoar:
Will :
This was followed by much giggling from the two of us. I suspect the midwives and nurses knew precisely why!
So. All is well, except that Sappho gets very tired. This warranted a rebuke from said Consultant:
Consultant: You are xx* and having twins, not 20 and having a singleton!
Sappho: Do you mean I am an old slapper?
Will:
(* Come on, you didn't expect me to reveal her age did you? That would be most indiscreet.)
Although the official D-day is June 1st the medics have made it pretty clear that they expect them to arrive in May and if they don't come early of their own accord they'll induce them because she's not really built for that much expansion. I'll keep you posted.
There are still vacancies on the babysitting schedule, so don't be shy!
