User Name .... would you change it?

Hi, I was wondering if, upon reflection, or in hindsight even, you might, if you were going to join swinging heaven for the first time, choose a different username. I've been asked, by both men and women whom I've met, why I chose skinny ... implying that it wasn't a very attractive moniker. lol Never really intended to attract any advances
I can see the sense in a name which gives a hint at location, like brighton' summat or other, or incorporating a preference which allows others to see that you might be bi, or even more explicit stuff.
What about you guys..if you were unknown here and choosing a name for the first time, where would you go with it?
I chose my name on the basis of one of my favourite Foo Fighters songs (the opening lyrics are my sig), but on reflection it implies I am not what I seem. In actuality, I try to be honest in all things, except where a little white lie might save hurt feelings.
When we joined here I signed up and it took me all of a couple of minutes to think of my name and I have been told it really suits my personality.
I wouldn't change it and think even if someone called me Minx while I was out I would just respond with a hi without thinking. lol
As for hubby being called Mr Theladyisaminx I have never asked if he is happy with this, but as he has rarely used the site, he hasn't complained.
Seeing as I no longer live in Essex, and I am 40, I suppose with hindsight, I would do.
Yep, I wished I had picked a different name

Maybe you should change it? Perhaps add a hint as to your location? dunno
:giggle: bolt
Nope - I have enough trouble remembering this one - and I've had it for years.
I also will never chanbge my phone number or email address for the same reason.
Changing passwords racks my stress levels through the roof and I have them written in a file on my desktop (in code).
In some ways yes but in others no.
I found SH purely by chance, having chatted with someone on MSN who recommended it.
I did contemplate changing my name from amatuerman to something more simple like Paddy which is what most of the folks in the chatrooms know me as ( and probably a few Mods too)
I deliberately spelt my user name wrong to deter wasters!
I'll stay as I am me thinks.

What a parenthesis can do - the idea sounded daft before it and very clever after it! hehe.
I have already changed usernames redface In the 6 full years between signing up and starting to really use my account I had been on other forums etc with my original username, and I didn't want the connection. I chose the new one in a hurry and yes I would like to change it again... but I doubt I would now, for the sake of continuity. It is bad enough as it is, with some people approaching me again and again without any recollection of having spoken before!
I don't think usernames pointing out location are good at all... There are people I chat to regularly and still don't recongise who they are until I've checked their profile for pictures and/or text, because their location-based usernames all blend into one.
The_pretender, yes it feels like an odd username for you.
I'm surprised how many people use their age or year of joining as part of their name or names like 'new_here'. They are bound to be out of date shortly. Maybe it's just me and my OCD but it would wind me up if it was mine.
The thing about passwords - since you have to balance them being unguessable and easy to remember I find variants on a theme best - with obscure replacements for letters/numbers.
So, if you need a password for here you could make it sWin9ingH17. The link there being Swinging Heaven and Heaven 17 (a very old band for you youngsters). The not so obscure replacements are a switched capital letter and using 9 instead of g. If you are consistent you would remember it, but it would take a long time for someone to guess it and a even a computer would have to go through loads of variants to find it. Stick a character such as # into it and you increase the variants by that many times. The trick is to be consistent so you can remember your own codes.
I also have a trick for never having to remember your PINs for your bank cards. Use the numbers printed on your card. You have the big number across the middle and variious other numbers in different places. The method is simply to choose 4 locations of digits from different places on your card and use the same locations on every card you have. For example the last letter of each of the four groups of numbers in the big number across the middle.
So, if on one card my number was 7 9847 my PIN for that card would be 4277.
A different card has a different number across the front but the positions would be the same xxxX yyyY zzzZ wwwW. You choose the same pattern every time - you can even look at your card and read the number off but unless you tell someone your personal pattern they couldn't possibly guess what the number is.

It took us minutes few to think of our name, it aint really original and sometimes I think it's a bit boring. I did think of changing it when another funlovers started using the same chat room as us and it all got a bit confusing, but most people just call me by my real name now which makes things a bit easier.

I'd always read it as that as well Hugs. Not sure it warranted that kind of reply though amatuerman dunno
As to the actual thread, it took us long enough to come up with this name so would probably carry on using it lol

Well seeing as I spelt it wrong and its never been recognised for what it was meant to be then yes maybe I would. Tweeky properly spelt was Twiki the little Robot thing from Buck Rogers. I had memorys of this!

and somehow thought that would help with pulling
When we go out most people we have spoken to assume that the name Tweeky would be becasue Mrs Tweeky has Tweeky nipples. Are not all nipples Tweeky? I have yet to see a pair of naked nipples in a play situations that Ive not tweeked biggrin Mrs Tweeky also hates wearing name badges that say Mrs Tweeky. Names stuck now though and wont be going anywhere.
I love the spelling mistakes in peoples' name, alway makes me giggle lol
I always read it as amateur man too
I know someone who'd like to change her name.....no doubt she will be along in a bit wink
Mine is a throwback from the old msn chat days and was also made to ward off shallow women
