with dodgy chicken. I spent all last night chucking up and a lot of today moping about at home coz i felt too crap to go to the office sad
note to self: next time buy the ready made jobbies and just eat them
I so cant cook to save my life!! redface rolleyes
ooh my sympathy goes out to you I've had food poisoning twice once I had to drive all the way back from spain with it carrier bag on lap and windows down confused and another time I had eaten in one of those layby type cafe's and spent all night in the pouring rain on Cardiff docks huddled under a trailer being sick non stop evil
Disclaimer I have nothing against layby type cafe's as they have helped me survive for fook knows how many years but I learnt a lesson that day if you stop for breakfast 10 minutes after said cafe opened and the sausages are burnt you can safely say they were left over from the day before and had been reheated rolleyes

You won't ever put me off my food, Sheddy - I was thinking a first post might be something better than about being sick!

I thought that its not that hard did you make sure the chicken was hot all the way threw and itwas not pink in the middle?

It's harder if it's in a sauce like in the curry. But if it is dodgy already no amount of cooking will fix it. Best thing is smell it - anything other than fresh and luscious - bin it. If you have a cold and can't smell, don't even risk it.
I binned a pack of dodgy drumsticks a couple of weeks back - you remember the heat wave? It was 10 days before the binmen came and my bin smelt like a month-old crime scene by the time they came. I had to push it up the front lawn away from the house it was that bad.
I can honestly say I've never poisoned anyone :smug:
There again, I could never get the bugger to eat his mushrooms
Poor boy! Sorry to hear of your mishap. Cheer up, many ladies here that CAN cook so if you are nice, you won't go hungry long ;)

It's not that simple.
All chickens are colonised with Salmonella sp. and Campylobacter sp which are both food poisoning bacteria. Poor kitchen hygine can result in the contamination of other foods even if the chicken has been cooked sufficiently to prevent any viable organisms being present on the meat.
When preparing raw chicken always imediatley was your hands after handling raw meat, and before touching any new utensils or dish cloths, towels etc. Wash the preperation area down thouroughly before preparing anything else.
If you have suffered from food poisoning that you think has been caused by food you have prepared yourself, then thouroughly wash all preperation area's, the sink, door handles, cooker knobs etc (a 5 - 10% bleach solution should be fine as this is what is commonly used in Micro labs). Also machine wash (or chuck out) tea towels, dish cloths etc, as they are probably contaminated also.
If you have suffered the effects of food poisoning it is also very advisable to give the bathroom a good clean, especially toilet rim and seats, handle, taps, door handles, and wash towels. Vomitting viruses, such as Rotavirus, Enterovirus and Norwalk virus can be aerosolised when you vomit. This means the whole of the bathroom can become contaminated and poses a risk for the whole household. If you think you have a vomitting virus (most common in winter aka winter vomitting virus) then used a second bathroom if available in the household, and don't let anyone else use it until it has been thouroughly cleaned.
